Bama coaching turnover

What's the most significant thing i saw last night was Tua.
When all things equal Tua is a mediocre passer at best. He clearly needs all the time in the pocket available and his numbers are inflated because of deep shots and double moves.
In hindsight, I think Jalen Hurts starting the game may have been better off for Bama and treat him like another runner.

Tua got exposed. I had this conversation with some people during the year they were saying how great he was. I said he’s got 3-4 WRs that are going to play on Sunday’s and no DL gets within 5 yards of him. When the bullets are flying he folded. He’s still young so still time to develop.

He definitely wasn't ready for that DL pressure. I think Tua can make average WR look good, but he got rattled last night
 
Herbie mentioned they've had 20 coaching turnovers in the last 5 years. At some point, that's got to catch up to Sabag.
 
Saban also coached scared which I've never seen. He literally pulled a Kirby.

true, but for a "real" team to function well it needs cohesion. A staff that has been together is going to function better (as a team) than a piece meal staff no matter how talented given everything else is equal. I think there is something to be said for staff consistency. Most of Dabo's staff seem loyal to him and some are former alums. Not the only factor, of course, but still a factor.
 
I think it's the coaching turnover and the mercenary attitude as well. Some of that does effect recruiting. The Ross kid that killed them last night said as much (according to Herbie). That was one of the reasons he didn't go to Alabama ... he had no idea if his position coach (or coordinator) would be there the whole time or if he'd run through 2 or 3 of them. There is definitely something to be said for staff continuity. Don't be surprised if you see Saban adjust (like he always does) and lock down his staff for the next few years (which will likely be his last few). The mercenary mindset and culture only works if you are winning at the highest level. If they don't get back there again next year, things might start to change. EVERYTHING is cyclical. Trees don't grow to the sky. These issues might be the ***** in their armor that ends their cycle.

Locksley has been there almost 3 years, and Bama kicked everyone's a$$ all season long while setting scoring records. Not to mention Bama beat Clemson 24 - 6 last season in this very game.

To lose 44-16 a year later with Tua as the Heisman runner-up, against a true freshman QB (all due respect to TL), demonstrates poor coaching. Bama should have been doing to TL what Clemson did to TT by changing defensive looks. **** poor coaching job by everyone on Bama's staff who though that could just overpower Clemson like everyone else. No excuses.
 
I believe Clemson wins this game 7 outta 10 times. They’re just better. Had nothing to do on “any given night.”

Goes more to the fact at how bad the SEC is. Outside of Bama and Georgia there isn’t anybody else in the top tier. And I even struggle putting Georgia in there, bc if they don’t bring their A game they can get beat by just about anybody

I tend to agree but I think it is more Clemson specific. Last year Bama had a target on clemson’s bakc because if that last second lost to them the year before and Bama it a beat down on clemson. This year it reversed. Clemson was out to get back for that and focused on Bama all year. They outplayed and out coached Bama and that was in part due to an intensity level bama just didn’t have this year. Don’t be surprised for a reversal next year.

They did get out coached badly after the first quarter Funniest was when they were letting the clock run down to 5-6 seconds down 38-16 in almost every play (had Richt flashbacks) also had a couple of awful playcalls in 4th down

Agree plus tuas a midget and you could tell had trouble all night with the length of Clemson’s dline. Tua is a great cfb qb but mark my words his game won’t translate to the NFL where he has to face a dline like Clemson’s every week.
