Baker Mayfield wanted to be a **** Cane...

I think Miami tries to corral Florida and miss out on the talent in Tx. Teams like OSU, Bama, UCLA, USC, Oregon hay day when they got caught with the coach funneling 6 starters and they had to cut ties with the sp recruiter. All these teams weren't winning titles. Texas horses love the coastal areas west or east so much of the time it's just Miami dropping the ball stuck trying to pander to divas who spurn to the bags. Texas is the **** and the Cane's will have a darn good chance to sit with them before the LSU game. Look at ESPN blue Chip board and tell me they cant land 2 or 3. Jimbo will have a field day with my old school instead of the Legendary Cane's. Come on CMR

Sure he did he left a scholie spot at Texas tech to walk on at ou.that right there tells you Miami wasn't on his mind at the time.
nah mane, he had a talk with Golden and Golden told Baker he already had a starting qb even tho Baker wanted to compete for the starting job.

When he planted the OU flag at midfield in the Shoe, I knew that he had that dog in him. Would have been fun to have his crotch-grabbing and middle finger-waving antics at UM.
Well, he didn't actually plant the flag since tOSU* plays on turf. But otherwise I agree with you. With Mayfield we beat Pitt and Wiscy last year (although if we beat Pitt we probably wouldn't have been playing Wiscy), but I don't think he would be enough to overcome Clemson. 12-1 with Mayfield. 10-3 without. Talent matters.

Key words "on title". Miami use to cherry pick the whole country, not just TX. Until Herman and Fisher arrived in TX, OU usually got the best Texas players. That's what happens when you are winning. If Miami wins they will come.
NO, disagree.

We've deemphasized Texas in recent years, probably because we didn't have coaches with familiarity there. But now we have at least three guys with Texas connections: Diaz, Banda and Patke. We did recruit that stud DT late but seems he was always going to UT.

Would like to see us pick up Texas and Louisiana recruiting. We did worse in Louisiana after Curtis Johnson left.

We can recruit Texas if we're willing to focus on it. Right now we seem to find so many good targets in Florida and Georgia.

On the other hand, we seem to do better in Georgia under Richt, a state we could hardly touch in the past.

When Hubbard Alexander was on staff, we used to recruit Memphis and Chicago more.

Kehoe used to recruit Philadelphia more. He was from that area. Just wasn't a great recruiter, though, for some reason.

A lot of it has to do with familiarity with an area and contacts.

Still, I don't know if we can really get the elite Georgia kids. Let's see how Haselwood plays out.

I used to hear that JJ and staff were happy to get one or two good kids a year. They said Texas kids were well-coached and came in ready.

We occasionally got an elite player, e.g., Jesse Armstead. Damione Lewis was a highly-rated DT, Marty Patton was highly-rated as a RB. There was that huge USA Today A-A DT who never played because of cancer. Died young, a sad story.

Still, there is so much talent in Florida don't have to look outside as much. Back in the '80's, we had to deal with more too recruits with academic issues. Lots of Prop 48's and partial qualifiers. Many Florida kids were really bad off academically. Some said the south Florida schools were poor.

I don't know....it seems like so many top Florida kids are much better off in terms of academic readiness these days. Maybe the word has gotten through that kids can't neglect academics or their athletic skills will go to naught. Remember so many kids we recruited who couldn't get in academically or just couldn't recruit. Many more I've forgotten.

I remember JJ saying "we had to go further on up the road" to get some of the kids because our local prospects couldn't qualify. I guess we had to go up North or to places like Texas.

Now, fewer of the Florida kids can't make it in, or so it seems.

Another change seems to more top OLs coming out of South Florida these days. Wasn't always the case...

EDIT: The Texas kid who died from cancer was Caesar O'Neal. I think he was first team USA Today All-America as a DL. Up to that time he was probably the largest player to come into the program. I guess he would have been a DT for us.

Imagine the media meltdown if he did that as a Cane. It would be like he was President Trump.

Watching this Thursday night NFL game...

Baker and Darnold are both extremely entitled stuck up dudes growing up.

Darnold keeps the streak alive by getting drafted very high and starting

Baker exposes himself in college, but in the meantime proves he's a real *** gamer

Right now, he's showing Sam Darnold and the city of Cleveland what the future looks like for 2018 rookies

Ill give the kid credit.

You don't personally know either of them. You're just talking out of your ***.

In college, he had some of the fastest mechanics and reads I've ever seen...but its college. So how in the FVCK does he look like he's going in Fast Foward in the NFL.

My man Baker Mayf is UNREAL.

If you're in fantasy, I'd be loading up on Baker and Njoku if you can get to them on the wire.

Would be nice if Richt took some inspiration here (wishful thinking) and saw simply how f*kin stupid it is to keep trotting out the experienced guy with no talent over younger guys with much higher ceilings. Hue Jackson should be canned for costing his team a 3-0 start. He literally said a very Richt like "i need to watch the tape" to see who will be the week 4 starter after the game. pathetic

You want to do some research *******!?
Or do you want to look like the idiot you walk around impersonating?
Can't speak on Darnold, but Baker is actually a really respectable dude. Hasn't complained about not being the starter or not getting first team reps. Just watched his long postgame interview and he's just a class act. He was a walk on at OU. How the **** is he entitled? Or are you just talking out of your *** and don't know ****?
