Baker>>>>>Lashlee Tonight

Most of y’all don’t care about anything other than your feelings. Once you decide a player or coach isn’t your boy he sucks and needs to be replaced, it’s clockwork.

Baker was fine tonight, not good or great, but fine. The defense flipped the field, got a turnover, the special teams blocked two kicks and scored a TD. It was an 11 point game at halftime, and we got the ball.

The offense barely got over 200 yards and Lashlee straight up sucked tonight. The thing to *not do* right now is switch to “oh then he needs to be fired too”, because that’s asinine. But it’s probably what will happen.

Trevor lawrence is trevor lawrence, but clemson QB's have started what like 50-50 over the first quarter the past two times they've played us?

This 100000x!!!!

I'm supposed to be impressed that he waited until halftime to see how abused we were getting by screens and simple zone reads to the edges?

They had 2 weeks to prepare for that. Their OC saw that our LBs were slow to the flat and our DEs don't set the edge and exploited it for 2 quarters before Baker realized what was going on and I'm supposed to be impressed?

He adjusted. His mistake was keeping McCloud on the field. His defense kept Miami from getting completely run off the field like in the past.

Lashlee looked like a guy who came from a D-2 school and didn’t gameplan. Reminded me of the water boy HC tonight. Brent ate his lunch all night and he couldn’t come up with anything but throw it deep and hope for a prayer!
People aren't going to like this much, but you are right. Look, they have the best QB and RB in the country and we were never going to stop them. But they felt us and we did look like we made adjustments. Lashlee just seemed to be completely outclassed. Perhaps it will be a constructive lesson for him, we'll see. I still think he is a good OC, but Venables is probably the best DC in the country and got the best of him.

He adjusted in the second quarter but our Shiitty offense continued to serve up the *** to Clemson. I didn’t say he called a Venables like game but he **** sure outperformed the guy everyone was slobbing on the past three weeks

I'm not sure many people know football here.

The guy across the field is consistently the best in the business. His team plays sound, principled defense and wasn't fooled by any of our odd formations. They physically whipped our *** at every position.

They kept everything in front of them. The only success we had was King on his own making a play or three. He does that to everyone. They systematically took everyone out. They dared us to throw it down the field, knowing that's King's achilles heel. Combined with our lack of physical WR's who can go up and get it or one who can separate, we literally weren't a threat anywhere on the field.

It was almost comical when they would give up the underneath stuff intentionally. They knew we had nobody who was a threat after the catch.

What this game showed us is that we're a long way from the top offensively. The OL is still a long way from where it needs to be. Our WR's, man they're all busts, not even joking. We will have a hard time with anyone who plays sound defense.

I disagree. Miami stopped my multiple times in the first has. Players had dumb penalties on the same play that kept the drive going. Baker did fine. Offense gave no support. Multiple 3 and outs

I get that we were playing the literal best QB and RB tandem in the country, so context is everything. I really do get it.

But to look at the defense that was on the field all night tonight and think "Yeah... pretty good. Not amazing, but doing just fine." is borderline insane.

It really didn't even matter what the distance was on the 3rd down, they converted at will. Our DBs were out of position. McCloud was completely lost the entire game. Our DEs were undisciplined and we were rushed and screened to the edges for an entire half. Throw in undisciplined penalty after penalty and it could EASILY have gotten out of hand even more than it did.

I'm not excusing Lashlee nor the offense at all but the D tonight was in no way shape or form "fine".

i like lashlee and think the offense will be good against the rest of our schedule but the guy straight up laid an egg tonight. F grade. we didn't have a single well designed or well executed play to get the ball in the hands of our actual playmakers (TEs, RBs). to think we could show up and run up the middle and throw to our outside WRs... just really disappointing stuff. no screens, no misdirection, no getting the defense flowing one way and throwing back the other. clemson actually called plays on offense like they had the worse players... they had the well executed misdirection screen pass to get themselves a TD. every single time we needed a good play call tonight lashlee came up empty. no other way to put it.

Clemson was the superior team from start to finish. Not sure what Lashlee could of called that would of got our WRs some separation. We have a Longggg way to go before we can beat a team with two Heisman candidates and a defense full of 5Star athletes.

Hopefully the younger players now understand how much work it's going to take to be on that level.

Exactly.

It was literally like what practices look like when your starting defense goes against the scout team prepping for the upcoming game.

I couldn't help but think, this is what it looked like when we prepared to play the Vick Brothers at VT. You knew they would make some plays with their feet, but you take everything else away.
