Bagman about to start visiting Jose Jobe

MIAMI, Fla. — Miami already finds itself in a position where its going to have to fight to keep its top 2018 commit, committed.

Miami Columbus four-star cornerback Josh Jobe told 247Sports' Ryan Bartow on Thursday that Alabama was his 'No. 1' school and that the Hurricanes were running No. 2.

He echoed that statement a few hours later during an on-site interview with InsideTheU when asked for the latest with his recruitment.

"Alabama is Alabama. UM is UM," Jobe said.

"I can choose either one of them two [but] I'm still committed to Miami."

Jobe, who is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 11 cornerback and No. 88 overall prospect, gave a verbal pledge to the Hurricanes back in June of 2015. While he has stuck by his word for the better part of the past 18 months, he did take a trip to Tuscaloosa over the summer with his high school team. There appears to have been contact ever since.

"I hear from Alabama a lot, probably every day," Jobe said. "It's just a good school. They are the defending champs and they offer a good education and everything. They also have a good coach in [Nick Saban] and my family likes them."

Jobe was at Hard Rock Stadium three weeks ago to see Miami take on Florida State. He said that while he was disappointing in the final result, the Hurricanes' recent three-game losing streak isn't one of the reasons why he's shopping around and listening to Alabama.

"They just got to turn it around," Jobe said. "They're a pretty good team. I mean Coach Richt is a good coach, and I respect Coach Richt. They just got to bounce back. [The losses] doesn't mean anything."

Jobe wore Alabama gloves on Thursday. He returned an interception 51 yards for a touchdown in Columbus 14-7 win over Coral Gables.

He said that he doesn't have any visits lined up, but hasn't ruled out a trip to Miami for the Hurricanes home contest against Pittsburgh next week.

"I'm right here, so we'll see."

Jobe (6-1, 180) is ranked as the No. 14 recruit in Florida.

Key words bolded. If you think Bama offers a good education, AND your family likes them when you're from Miami.. $igh

We should skip the part where we cut off our balls and go right for the cyanide pills.

Until we start winning at the highest level, this will keep happening. Whatever.

Life is good.

I'm starting a pool for what poster brings up how good the 2019 class is first.

Well we have Akeem Dent committed. But im sure Bama will bring out the truck load of $ bags when the time comes

At this stage, I'll be shocked if we keep the kid. Top rated kid from Gator country? Hmm..

He goes to Pahokee.

K well he did go to RPB, musta not seen he went back

No doubt they pay dudes. But is it impossible that one of the best dynastys in the history of the sport can just simply get whoever they want?

How you think they became a dynasty? Money! Money for coaches money for players. Until they get busted this will continue for years to come.

This is why Butch would have succeeded here. He is the best at finding the difference makers that are off everyone's radar...even Bama's. For now Saban will just continue to pluck who he wants from us and there's not a **** thing anybody can do about it.

Butch put together those late 90's and early 2000 classes before the boom that has become recruiting. It's very rare for a kid to go under the radar like they did nearly 2 decades ago.

Okay, we're off probation. We need to start dropping bags. You wanna compete you gotta pay. Period.

I remember a thread with CJ Henderson an CJ (supposedly) said that he was leaving and that when Jobe got an offer that he was leaving too. I don't recall the thread name but I definitely remember reading that exact quote. **** Bama.

Burns:

Gulliver Prep running back Robert Burns has played sparingly during a disappointing senior season.
Burns, an Under Armour All-American and four-star prospect according to the 247Composite, has been credited with nine carries for 53 yards over three games without getting carries in three others according to statistics provided by the Miami Herald.

Burns verbally committed to the University of Miami in February and reports over 20 offers. He is rated as the sixth-best running back in Florida.

He missed last week’s game against Champagnat with a left foot injury that had him walking on the sidelines in a small canvas cast shoe. The extent of the injury is unknown.

When Gulliver Prep head coach Earl Sims was asked if Burns has been dealing with the injury throughout the season, Sims replied:

“Yeah, but I’m not really going to talk about that because I don’t want any—I’m not talking about that. We’re hopeful that he’s going to play this week though.”

Sims then ended the brief interview when asked for clarity about his season and declined further comment.

Burns received five carries for 39 yards and returned a kick for a touchdown in the season opener falling to Celebration while junior running back James Jackson had 10 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Burns did not have a carry in the second game against Somerset, had three carries for 13 yards in the third game against Belen, and did not have a carry in the fourth game against Monsignor Pace.

In the fifth game Burns had one carry for one yard against Everglades Prep in the second quarter and was standing on the sideline later in the game.

The game against Champagnat was the sixth game of the season.

It is uncertain why his playing time has been sporadic and how much the injury has been a factor.

Gulliver Prep is 2-4 in its first season as an independent school and is no longer a part of FHSAA meaning it cannot compete for a state championship. Gulliver Prep won a state title in 2001 led by the late Sean Taylor and played for another title in 2008.

Gulliver Prep has two games remaining on its schedule—Oct. 28 against Hialeah-Miami Lakes and Nov. 4 at Key West.

Well the money for the coaches completel legal. It's not their fault they have the funds and dedication and hired one of the best CFB coaches of all time. Look I don't doubt they have paid players, but underscore the fact Saban is **** good is crazy. They get who they want because they compete for chips every year and get players drafted first and fore most. They will pay kids that need a nudge in their direction but let's not act these kids aren't lining up to play for Saban. I doubt they are opening up the checkbook for a 2018 kid at this point in time anyway. That doesn't mean they would not for Jobe, but why do it this early? As Geo stated, this has more to do with the performance on the field at this point.

We were already discussing this in another thread yesterday. The Henderson thread.

Someone shared the interview with me from today as well. He's basically still committed to Miami. Said something like "Bama is Bama. UM is UM. I can pick either and I'm still committed to Miami."

Most of it was basically we Havnt been performing on the field like we should. For why they're gaining ground with him. As for the thing from Bartow. I become very cautious when reading articles, he didn't have a direct quote with Jobe saying that what was posted in OP.

Regardless of the fact. Alabama has been coming after him since the summer.

I talk with one of his cousins and he still expects him to pick Miami in the end regardless of if he decommits or stays committed. It's still a long way to go and so much can happen between now and then.

Fact is, as I see it, Top talent isn't dedicated to helping build something. They want to be part of a team they feel confident they can beat anybody with. They want to see a Canes team they believe they can kick *** with right away. We looking too raggedy to capture and maintain the hearts of this immediate payoff generation. Rick is going to have to win with a mix of 4 star and top 3 star before we can hold onto the top SoFl talent. Picking an accomplished Hot Shot young OC is his best chance to turn things around, next year, offensively and recruiting offensive talent.
