According to the report, one former head football coach, John Bunting, admitted to knowing of the paper classes and his successor, Butch Davis, also admitted some knowledge. Current men's basketball coach Roy Williams is steadfast that he did not know, Wainstein said.

Butch Davis, who succeeded Bunting as coach and was eventually fired in the wake of the scandal in 2011, also admitted to knowing there were "easy classes," Wainstein said.

Not news. Already reported.

There are descriptive terms used by the journalist that he attributes to the coach. Butch admitted he knew they were easy classes. The writer calls them "paper". Poor journalism.

LMAO though. Yeah...Roy didn't know. Would you like to buy some oceanfront property in Idaho?

You could have moped on one of the existing threads on this.

Lol at you retards thinking that Butch was oblivious to any of this and that there's even a ounce of chance Miami will hire him.

Sticking it to the board about Butch > Winning

Hey, PhuckHead. Did you notice that issue goes back to 1993. That's 1993. Butch wasn't there, Trick Baby.

You should go back to ITU and NutSwing.

It was UNC's system, not Butch's. It was in practice long before Butch got there, props to Butch Davis for exposing this academic fraud.

Vindicated :)

In one email to a football operations coordinator, André Williams, during the second summer session of 2009, Cynthia Reynolds, the Associate Director for ASPSA and Director of Football, wrote that "Ms. Crowder is retiring at the end of July . . . if the guys papers are not in . . . I would expect D's or C's at best. Most need better than that . . . ALL WORK FROM THE AFAM DEPT. MUST BE DONE AND TURNED IN ON THE LAST DAY OF CLASS." As reflected in that email, the football counselors were painfully aware that many of their charges would not get the grades they "need" to remain eligible if someone other than Crowder graded their papers.

The counselors were also "painfully aware" that the whole football program would have to change how it aligned on-field expectations with academic priorities. In a November 2009 meeting with all of the football coaches, counselors presented the following slide:

So...UNC academic oversight told the staff that since 1993 they've been running a sham? How is that Butch's fault?

Scapegoated.

Unless they had a bunch of white guys taking African religion & culture, and they were suddenly passing without knowing a lick about African descent, then yeah, he'd know. The man, along with many others, knew there were some easy courses, but every college has those. Those easy courses that co-eds tell each other about. There are also professors that make their classes particularly difficult, and co-eds would tell others to stay the ph*ck away from such class.

Fake Caneshow, where does knowing Easy class means Fake nonexistent class?
Check yourself or you won't have a ******* to come back here with Ur breaking news!

It was not Butch Davis's responsibility as HC of the football program to target and ascertain which UNC accredited programs were fraudelent. The fault rests 100% with the UNC administration. It's the UNC chancelleor and Deans's jobs to maintain that academic programs are run properly, not the football coach, not the Lacrosse job, not the trainer. Butch Davis is not qualified, not should he be expected to know if a course is fraudelent. That's why North Carolina has a shyton amount of deans. That's the dean's job.

Let's take it one step further. What if Butch Davis believed UNC's African American Studies course was fraudelent. What was Davis supposed to do? Tell all of his football players don't take African American Studies - it's a bullshyte course. Even though the university fully accredited the course and supported the major. Davis would've been called a racist. If the UNC stated the course was on the up-and-up, Butch should incupable of this entire scandal.

And don't give me football players aren't persuaded by athletic support to take easy courses. Every support athletic support staff in Div I football - with the exception of Stanford - advises football players to take easy courses. It happens at Duke, Notre Dame, even Miami right now. It happens everywhere.

The fault in UNC's academic scandal rests exclusively with the administration. It's the administration's job to ensure courses aren't fraudelent.

UNC trying to scapegoat Butch Davis in this mess is a joke of the highest order.

Read the report, dipschitt.

Always wanting to take the shortcut - the Cliff Notes.

Yes, everyone knew some classes were easy classes, but no one on the coaching staff or in the Administration had knowledge of how classes - any of them were conducted. I didn't play football, but I knew where some easy classes were, or which instructor to get and which ones not to get.

I hate to tell you, but retardation is NOT a virtue.

So quit trying so hard.
