Bad Losses

Not just that, they were also very close games lost at the very end of the games. The committee views margin of victory as important in our wins so they can downplay them, but when we lose the fact that we did so with a small margin of loss in the waning minutes doesn't matter. Suddenly "a loss is a loss", but a win isn't a win unless it's a blow out

It **** sure should take some luster off that "loss". When Texas, a team that got mauled by Florida, can beat the team you couldn't, it should say something.

One loss was in OT. An OT loss should be held in higher regard than a flat out loss. But it's Miami, so there's that.

South Carolina **** near beat them... dominated them for an entire half. Losing to AnM should not be seen as some amazing loss. It should be viewed almost on par with losing in OT to SMU

The second Texas A&M beat SC by one point, my first thought was, "SC played them as close as Notre Dame". That alone should have hurt ND at least a little. Just a little. Now, when combined with this Texas loss, and a real look at Texas A&M's schedule, that ND loss to them looks even worse. People were just going off of Texas A&Ms rank, which I get, but look at WHY they were undefeated. They nearly lost a few games that could have gone either way.

There was a time Penn State was ranked #2 and undefeated as well. I think had Texas A&M played a tougher SEC schedule, they would have 3 losses. They are not better than Miami. Their record is, but the team isn't.

Thing is they don’t actually move the goal posts. SEC/BIG are evaluated on a curve because they’re “better”. Always been that way.

1. Teams from those conferences get a one loss mulligan, so a 2-loss SEC/B1G team will always be seen as comparable to a 1-loss team from the ACC/Big 12, and so on.

2. Style points are much less important for B1G/SEC teams. They are paramount for everyone else.

3. SEC/B1G are evaluated on their wins, not their losses. Everyone else is the exact opposite.

Those three things explain why the committee does what it does.

Louisville absolutely TRUCKING Kentucky right now. The same Kentucky team who blew UF out of town. They’ll finish 8-4. SMU will finish with 9-10 wins and possibly make the ACCCG and playoff. Our losses aren’t bad. No SEC slurping butt pirate at ESPN will convince me otherwise. They shouldn’t convince anyone of it because it’s wildly false.

Said it last week this is the year of a 3 loss sec team making it. It will still be honestly tough to even justify putting Texas ahead of anyone in the top 12. They have some tough losses/wins.
 
You know what people will say: “You shouldn’t have lost to SMU/Louisville and taken care of business.” I get that sentiment, but my point has always been that the hypocrisy directed towards Miami is what ticks me off. It’s like everyone expects us to go undefeated and win by 40 each week or we aren’t any good. The bottom line is there aren’t any truly dominant teams this year. Yes, that includes The Suckeyes contrary to popular opinion. When Miami brings their A game they can beat just about anyone, but they aren’t perfect or infallible, just like the rest of these playoff teams.

Check out what Louisville is doing to Kentucky, then compare that to some of the other "good" SEC teams that played them.
