Back from Barney's Beanery, it was a buzzkill(my thoughts)..

I'm literally in shock when Rosier completes a third down pass, tbh I'm surprised when a pass doesn't get knocked down at the los. I haven't had confidence in Rosier since early in the season.

He has sloppy mechanics , awful accuracy , horrible touch , can't throw guys open and can't read a defense. He literally makes a bubble screen or rb screens an adventure.

I haven't been this a$$ whipped over a qb in a long time, that should tell you everything.

Oh and the play calling is repetitive and prehistoric.

Its funny, earlier in the year during another one of these posts where I said Rosier was 'hot-and-cold' someone actually commented that it was a narrative. I was stunned, I mean, first of all the stats speak for themselves and all you really have to do is watch the games with an objective eye(and you dont need to be Bill Walsh) to understand Rosier's shortcomings.

He's not good, he got worse throughout the year as teams got a grasp of just what he really was. I think the Hurricanes have hit their absolute ceiling with him. This job needs to be wide open going into spring ball

well said, only thing that i disagree, the defense knows Rosier is a very poor qb and they can kind of play the run without worrying about rosier. so many plays were on rosier. how about the 3rd down play where we were driving and berrios was wide open and the de bat is down. How many passes did this young man have batted down this year. he probably had more of them than tds and ints combined. Never seen so many before!!!!

that long windmill release of his is awful....

His footwork with dem cankles ain't pretty either.

also for an 'athletic QB', he's not all that athletic and teams started to sit on the QB draw as the year went on after the ND game.

Again, I do have questions about Richt's offensive approach/philosophy in todays game but Rosier is an iceberg to the Titanic with his shortcomings.

Part of sitting on the draw play was it became our main rushing option. They basically knew Homer wasn't going to get it, so they don't key on him.

The offense, what a mess.

You mentioned personnel, sure we could use some lost guys back. I just don't believe they would right the ship. The guys we had left are most certainly young and used in a moat curious fashion at times. I go back to last year and something Walton was great at. Catching the ball out of the backfield. How much did that happen this year? Also, why no two back sets when it was apparent that Homer could bring it when Walton went down? You want a play action nightmare or unpredictable run game, that was the solution when Walton was healthy. Mix Herndon in with two wideouts, that's scary options. **** just makes me sick.

K9,

Your OP said it all. I do absolutely believe that this program is on an upward trajectory and that winning 10 games with Rosier was a minor miracle. Having said that, this program needs to address 2 key issues before this team can move forward. It is imperative that a new QB take the reins. You are correct that we have maxed out our potential with Rosier at QB. The starter against LSU needs to be the winner of a Perry/Weldon/Williams battle.

The offensive line must be upgraded/improved and I mean tremendously improved. We will not be able to compete at the elite level with the garbage OL play we see currently. Aside from personnel Richt needs to hire an offensive mind as the 10th coach to help him game plan and call plays. We are way behind the times. I realize that Rosier is a major limiting factor but Richt needs to look himself in the mirror and realize that either he gets better or he needs to hire a fulltime OC.

The last 3 games were a huge disappointment, but overall I’m pretty optimistic. We were overachievers this year and we are only just starting to actually build.

10 wins is easy with average s. FL recruiting classes and a decent staff. Once the top 5 classes come up is when fools get smacked around like ND on the weekly

College football has passed us up. The days are over where we can out talent everyone. This 10th coach hire is as critical as the original cosch hire. MUST be an offensive mind. MUST.

Why not?

Say this recruiting class is as good as we hope. Who has a back 7 that can run with Thomas, Richards, Pope, Hightower, Mallory, Jordan and Lingard?

That's where we win. Sort out the Oline and QB play, which are both being addressed in recruiting, and there are very few teams that can stop that. That's why I'm high on Richt - he knows what's required to win here and he has the ability to make it happen.

Been waiting for this write up. I posted in another thread but would like to hear your thoughts: Could someone who understands offensive concepts explain the rational to run on 2nd and long almost exclusively? It’s a terrible percentage play, yet it’s continually run with this team and typically in to the middle. Is it hoping to get in 3rd and manageable? Is it a missread on the rpo? What is it?

Yes, that's exactly what it is, to get to 3rd and manageable, but Ive read where it's actually a terrible percentage play. Also, when you are as poor at running the ball as UM is, well, all you're doing is setting up 3rd-and-ah-geez.

What was really frustrating was the play calling after Jeff thomas long pass, inside the 10 yard line. There was no rhyme or reason to that series of calls before Badgely's latest choke job

There was no rhyme or reason to run a quarterback draw? It worked against Notre Dame in Virginia tech.

Yeah we can out talent the lesser ACC teams. Absolutely. We aren’t out talenting Bama, Clemson, Ohio State etc

You know there's this guy on the coaching staff that's supposed to help with our qb 's horrible mechanics. ..

Jr is stealing checks my friend.

k9 posts are always great to read. Glad the rosier era is over . Perry got a year to red shirt...get a little bigger see the game
At this speed for a season...got williams coming in...will be interesting to see who wins out. As for richt giving up play calling ...aint
Happening .

In a funny way, while the result was horrible, the outcome and Rosier's performance makes it MUCH easier for Richt to give Perry every single opportunity to win this job in the spring. Yeah, I know, silver lining to a dark cloud, lol. But hey, Im trying to stay positive here

If you look at our oline depth chart it's filled with a lot of underclassmen... thats our biggest issue with that group imo, just need another year of development and this upcoming recruiting class to fill in the voids.

to what had been a dream season up until Thanksgiving weekend, when reality started to hit this years Miami squad. The Orange Bowl was very frustrating and sobering, this game was there to be won(up 14-3, you figure that's exactly where you want Wisconsin) and well, that's when it all started to implode in the second quarter. Some thoughts:

- I tweeted this during the game, win or lose, Im good, in the big picture it didn't matter all THAT much but I really hope this is the last game Malik Rosier ever starts at QB for Miami. Sorry, he's not good. He's barely average, probably below that. Never mind his completion percentage which is absymal for this era of football but even his completions(like the deep post to Jeff Thomas) aren't great throws in terms of placement. This program was able to squeeze out 10 wins - with one cancelled game vs Ark State - with him and to me, that's a sizable acheivement.

But for this program to progress, Miami needs to upgrade the position. I can't wait for spring ball and see what the likes of N'kosi Perry has. Yeah, I can't lie, if Rosier is going to be under center vs LSU, I may cancel that trip. Sorry, it's the way I feel. Ive seen enough(low football IQ, poor feel and anticipation and inaccuracy). That INT to start the 2nd quarter was a momentum shifter. Even the INT where the Wisconsin defender held Cager up, was a poor throw( late and underthrown)

- Now, it didn't help that once again the Oline couldn't create a consistent push in the running game and outside a few big plays in the Deejay Dallas 'rush package'. This is another unit that needs a huge upgrade in talent. It was frustrating to see Wisconsin just consistently churn out yards in the running game, while Miami seemed to be wasting any play that was a hand-off.

- Also, to be fair to Rosier, the losses of Walton, Richards and Herndon were huge( all three have NFL futures, IMO) and again, Rosier is at best a caretaker quarterback and this is where the lack of depth was very evident. Again, young guys who are coming in(and already signed) will play a ton next season.

- Alarming trend, once again the DB's had issues and the inside slant was open all game. Now, Hornibrook made some nice throws and some tough catches were made but there was a clear lack of speed back there and like I said a moment ago - young freshman will have every chance to play next season right off the bat.

- Zach Feagles had a nice game. Hopefully he has steadied himself. My hats off to him. Good way to go into this soph campaign. As for Michael Badgley, well, despite being UM's all-time scorer he'll be known for certain huge misses as many of his made kicks. Honestly, while he has a big leg there is a bit of a consistency problem.

- 3rd downs on both sides of the ball are a HUGE issue that have to be addressed. Offense cant extend drives and the defense cant get off the field enough. If there was ever a game where time of possession told the story, this was it. I can understand on offense given the QB, etc, but defensively based on the front 7, Diaz's unit should be better. But again, maybe that's related to issues on the back-end of the defense. Tonight Jaquan Johnson and Michael Jackson showed they weren't ready for the next level.

- Overall, 10-3, to me it was an enjoyable season. We all wish it would've finished more positively but better days are ahead. But the last 3 games were a reality check. Now, Richt and Co. just have to finish off this recruiting class and then focus in on the spring.

Yes. Rosier is a caretaker. The future is either sitting on the bench or still in HS in Georgia.

He is the David Woodley to Dan Marino.

Still, I give Rosier credit for being a fighter and playing to the limits of his potential. He still did a lot of good things for us. It"s not Richt's fault that the previous staff did not leave him more talent.

I think that is a great analogy. Lets hope N'kosi is Dark Marino. As for the overall big-picture of the program, you can't tell me that after 2 years we aren't in a better place than in 2015. And the past two seasons have shown - that if as a freshman you can play - you will play a lot and be given every chance to contribute.

But to me, this whole spring is about N'kosi Perry and the QB spot

Looking back, this season and the way it ended up feels a bit like the 99 season(which easily could've been an 11-12 win season if Najeh Davenport doesn't get hurt in the opening game vs Ohio St) and we all know what followed after that. I just hope that's not just my orange-and-green googles on these slanted eyes

I nearly **** myself when Rosier threw the TD to Cager on the scramble drill. I am pretty confident that was the first time he completed a pass all year when he escaped the pocket. It may have been his first attempt. He always just tucked and ran, never kept his eyes downfield.
