B/R thinks App.ST. has 2nd best backfield in NCAA

Interesting.

They are going to need to run the ball a lot. Their probable starting QB looked absolutely horrendous against us last year at Duke.

Didn't they just get the same Duke QB Brice in the portal recently? He's not a world beater, but he's no slouch, and if they have a decent running game, it could be a problem.

That's exactly what the poster meant when he said "their probably starting QB looked absolutely horrendous against us last year at Duke".

Chase Brice was the QB when we shutout Duke last year. He did have 80% completion percentage, but only for 94 yards.

First mistake: Reading Bleacher Report. Second Mistake: Thinking that glorified clickbait is insightful analysis. You have multiple teams with superior players to Appy State in the backfield, yet Appy State is ranked #2. Nah. You look at Miami's backfield, it's far more complete than Appalachian State's, especially if King is healthy. You have a castoff QB that can barely throw the ball 20 yards. That is a strike right there.

Wait...they have a quarterback who wasn’t good enough for Duke and they have the second best backfield in the nation? Didn’t know they signed Jim Brown and Barry Sanders

What a joke of a ranking. Sure, when you look at production alone, they look solid on paper. But if anyone thinks stats from Sun Belt competition are apples to apples against P5 competition, they shouldn’t be publishing articles.

I’d rank them dead last of the schools on that list.

Jim Brown would be a highly ineffective running back this season.

Barry would probably still run for 3,000 yards.
