AVANTAE WILLIAMS POST PRACTICE VID

He better get use to it. If he becomes a star for this team, it will come up in national interviews. Might as well get practice with local guys.

That said, if you hated the chain and want to get rid of it, seeing how excited Tae was to get that interception (Incredible interception btw. I had to rewatch a few times just to make sure my eyes didnt deceive me at what he did) , see his teammates go crazy, and watch him put it on should have changed your attitude toward it. Special moment for a kid who 75% of this board wanted to be sent to the electric chair just 3 months ago.

For those fans who don't like the chain - the next time you force a turnover in a game, feel free to decline it. If the kids busting their *** on the field like the chain, maybe the fans who aren't actually playing should stop complaining about it. And this “I don't Iike it when we are down 28 points" nonsense - you must think Diaz should let a kid put on the chain when we are down 1 TD, but should tell a kid who forces a turnover if we are down 28, "We are down too many points, turnovers don't matter now and you don't deserve the chain." I'm sure that would be great for morale.

Tae won that Packer & Durham WRU of the week award this week. He beat Harley, who finished 2nd.

How often has the down 30 in the 4th happened that it has become a problem?
not sure exactly how much we were down against Bama but we were down pretty big when that chain made an appearance. But the point is when you are losing with no shot the chain loses it's significance and almost becomes a parody.

Interesting comments for those who want us to do away with the turnover chain.
It's hard to stomach celebrating mediocrity... but new school is different. They all hug & take pics together after games. My biggest problem is it can be tone deaf. Don't break it out when Bama is BF'ing us.

I think the TD rings are just ***. Maybe TD lap dance or something.

I can tell he really wants to do whats right and he's accepting help well. He has a support system and you can tell it's working well

Haven’t heard any upperclassmen on this team speak remotely close to how these freshmen talk they shizz. Even more frustrating when you think this was the attitude Manny had on the bench while upperclassmen got all the pt.
McCloud has been vocal during games.. the right way.

Talk can be cheap. We just like it when we are winning. #Don'tBeAFanLater

we should stop making new chains and just rotate the 4 that we have -- they are all dope af
Sell all 4 of them to off-set the cost of Manny's buyout. That's about how I feel about the chains at this point.

$100k apiece is the estimated cost + some sentimental/collector value and nostalgia. I think we could get $500k-600k for all 4 of them.

People still don't understand how much these kids like having the chain after a turnover. Sure it seems dumb when we are losing by 22, but to the kid who got the turnover it's a very big deal.
Also, as gogeta explained in another thread, the chain is emblematic of the S Fla mentality which is flashy and showy, EVEN when losing. The mentality starts before high school. So we can dislike Diaz but he did tap into something that the S Fla kids care about. And even players who aren't from S Fla like Phillips last year who loved the chain.
I think the fan base in general loved the chain. The issues with the chain started creeping when people noticed that the team and coaching staff is more worried about style than substance. But I agree, getting a turnover and seeing the players celebrating and putting the chain on is a big "Eff You" to the other team and just fits in perfect with the Miami culture. If we were dominating teams nobody would have an issue with it. The touchdown rings on the other hand are just horrible. If they wanted to give something to the offense they could've done something cooler, perhaps only bringing it out for big play touchdowns (20+ yards). I don't know but they need to do something about the rings!
