Auburn's O-Line and freshman QB perspective

ESPN (Herbstreet and someone else) claimed that a bunch of coaches who watched last week's Miami - Florida game all asked their video crews to put together a "Don't do this tape." But Auburn is even doing it a little worse so far on offense the first half with a very experienced starting O-line.

Auburn returned all five of their starting Offensive linemen. But, the usually not-known-for-defense Pac 12, is just wearing Aubrn's offense out with penetration and blitz packages. Their young Q, Nix has happy feet, already thrown 2 INTs and thrown the ball away numerous times. He could have had two other INTs. The kid was never sacked in high school, and has one sack, but a ton of hurries and throwing the ball away.

JW15 wasn't near as rattled as Nix the first half, made better decisions with nowhere near the experience on the O-line.

i'm watching the game, too. Just said to my son that Bo Nix is having the "jw" experience tonight. He's learning on the job. One thing he did well a few times was keep his eyes down field, scramble to try and make a play and then just throw it away. Auburn OL looks awful
 
Jarren looks noticeably better than this dude for Auburn. And Miami's line played much worse than this.
 
The whole "pac-12 is not known for defense so all their defenses suck" is a BS narrative.

The ACC is not known for producing good teams, yet we have Clemson.

Bo Nix is scrambling too much too early. He needs to trust the pocket, because it is there for the most part.
 
OK let me spoon feed it for a couple of you:

ESPN took a shot at Miami - Florida with their "don't do this tape". Presumably one of the coaches for this game said that.

Baby steps; Both Auburn and Miami were starting first time QBs. This means the "Hot Take" is setting up a perspective based on that (Still Following?).

Auburn has a VETERAN (all five positions) retuning O-Line, some said may be one of the best in the SEC. But in the first half, they managed 6 points on two field goals and had their QB running around like he's at a track meet.

Miami had a patch-work O-line, started two freshman OTs and guys playing new positions. And in the first half, they too had their QB running around like in a track meet and taking sacks, but still managed two field goals and a TD, to give them the lead.

I'd infer a couple things at this point: 1) Miami, in comparison wasn't that bad in the first half (Some had the Chicken Little sky falling), and 2) Apparently the, "Don't do this tape" wasn't very effective.

The post was not a 'pick-em' for who would win games between Miami, Oregon and Auburn.

We good? Hot takes aren't for everyone, apparently.

The only place it's a BS narrative is when they play in their own league. The PAC 12 hasn't done much the last 15 years. They come east to play in big games and those high power offenses run into a wall the 2nd half, just like tonight. Auburn made the adjustments at half and pounded the Oregon D into submission.

And, the ACC doesn't have Top Ten pre-season teams named just about every year to keep the West Coast TV audiences engaged. PAC 12 is consistently overrated.

FreshmanQB, pulled the game out of his ***. Agree, always looking down field. JW will get this and our offense opens up.His ceiling is higher than Nix

How many more years we have to take baby steps? ***** a joke at this point. And we wonder why we lose south Florida recruits so easily.

Watching a freshman lead a game winning drive while ours gets sacked 400 times.

You are missing the point, just because the stereotype is that the pac 12 sucks at defense doesn't mean it holds true for every team. Just like the stereotype that all ACC teams suck, isn't true for Clemson.

Yep. It’s not the Apollo project to get a functioning offense that doesn’t give up ten sacks.
