ATTRITION

Evan Shirreffs - 3rd string at best if he returns
Trayone Gray - unless he moves to defense
Crispian Atkins - should transfer somewhere so he can play
Bar Milo - bust
Jahair Jones - bust
Tre Johnson - not Miami caliber
Tyriec Martin - not Miami caliber
Ryan Fines - too white
Terry McCray - graduated
Jamie Gordinier - bad knees
Robert Knowles - almost ruined the season

Serious question, rok, will we be at or near 85 scholarship athletes next year? It's a given some will redshirt and we will carry some dead weight, all programs do, but keeping the dead weight under 8 players (ie<10% of the rooster) is probably acceptable. Every class cant be 99-00.

I believe Shirreffs will transfer, but he might be the best suited to run the scout team, considering he is praised as the most intelligent at grasping offensive concepts

Choc will never play RB here after this season, but he could be an asset on special teams. I hated seeing Homer out there so much, but others will also be able to fill that role.

The rest I am in 100% agreement.

"Too white" and "almost ruined the season" got me dying laughing. However, it's true

WAIT ...

I was told (over and over and over) #16 was a legit QB, in the mold of Carson Wentz, Aaron Rodgers, and Paxton Lynch ... Great QB who was just missed by every college coach in America, except James Coley. Late bloomer, but smart and athletic ... Real "Ken Dorsey type" of QB.

Why would we push that kid out when our QB play has been so average, and we clearly want/need an upgrade??

My prediction is we'll be around 80 when the dust settles.

Richt has been adamant that he doesn't want to settle on recruits just to fill a roster spot, and he also has been pretty overt about holding the kids to a standard so I expect some more attrition.

tre johnson and MArtin are too new to count out.

I know you keep up with it more than I do, but I see a pretty good rooster next year, especially if Apostrophe can grab hold of the reigns, which makes 2019 a round out class to fill the immediate needs and finally catch Clemson/Bama. That looks like what Richt is building to.

Much like Berrios before this season, Cager is undervalued by fans on this site.

QB and OL are immediate issues. Imagine good QB play, and/or average OL play this year? 11-0, all blowouts, and we might be in the playoffs now.

If they arent better, 2018 might catch up to us.

Let's hope he experiences a similar awakening.

He showed some signs of life this year but he's yet to perform consistently.

a couple guys to watch are LBs Smith and Owens,I can see them transfer if they can start for another school.

Unless Perry is very good I’d say expect a worse record in 2018. Tougher schedule, worse OL, worse DL.

Worse record? How so? We return possibly 18 of 22 starters. Players progress and other schools lose players as well. Why is it every other school doesn’t lose players or their players get better while our players stay the same. St. Louis, Donaldson, Gauthier, plus gaynor, Mahoney and the freshmen who redshirted will be as good or better than this year.

Agree, but lack of improvement at QB/OL is a major limitation. We saw how it negated our overall talent superiority this season. Bad, undermanned teams became equal matchups. Red Zone, third down and short yardage offense failure kept teams in the game. Competent QB and OL play, and we put away UNC, GT, Cuse, Toledo, FSU, UVA and Pitt in the first half.

Our offensive identity was 3 and out, with random big plays mixed in. ****, we had as much chance scoring on a possession from our own 20 as we did on their twenty.

Frankly, besides BCU, VT and ND, ironically, every team had a better QB. And besides BCU and maybe Toldeo, they all had a MUCH better OL.

Fines.webp

What is it about Fines that makes you guys think he won't contribute. I don't get it.
