Athlon Sports bogus predictions

If they watched every minute of every game like most of us, at every mind numbingly predictable drive, horrible pass and shanked punt, they’d feel differently.

But they didn’t so they won’t.

Either way....yawn.

Let’s play football and show them what we’ve got.

I was reading Phil Steele's magazine this morning. In it there's an article about who's been the most accurate in their predictions. Athlon has been the #1 most accurate predictor of CFB teams finishing in each conference and for the playoffs the past 3 seasons out of any sports publication. Steele has been #2.

I still believe UM wins 9 games this season. That's more than anyone on Athlon.

I totally get that from an outsider's perspective, 8 wins makes sense and that the losses have to come from more than just UF and FSU, but... we're going to lose to UVA at home? At home...? Really?

I'm not surprised by these predictions. In fact, most college football analysts would agree with them. None of these guys follow our team day-to-day like we do, or know our personnel, talent, coaches, etc. as we do. The QB problem is massive, and that's what most analysts will focus on. A lot of these guys have to follow multiple college football teams, so they have a macro-level understanding of each program. This is not to say that their observations are wrong though.

Last season, we were the most disappointing team in college football. A lot of people got burned with their predictions on us. Until we've proven that we have a capable QB, no one will have us above 8-4/9-3. To our team's credit, I do think we will surprise a lot of people this year. Whoever is under center will perform the best that any QB has here in the past decade. Dan Enos will see to that. I also think we'd all agree we'd rather start off with low expectations and overperform.

No, we have shown a clear track record of dropping games we shouldn't and absolutely sh-tting the bed on the big stage under Richt, under Golden and under Shannon. That's a freakin decade and a half! I don 't see expect the pundits to predict anything less until we SHOW a different product on the field. It's really that simple. So then who gives a sh-t what people are saying. LETS GO PROVE SOMETHING!
This^^^^^ tells it like it is.we've been a mediocre football team for so long it's how most people around perceive our program.some here are expecting Diaz and co to change that culture overnight.we have a good team now not a great one hope most here understand that and not expect a 2001 type team on Aug 24.or for this or next season.

What is eye-opening is that besides the gator, we have 0 ranked teams on our schedule (per the AP poll). F8cking ZERO. That is f*cking ridiculous. Sorry if this ****es you off, but our SOS is for ****. Besides FSU, there's no other game beyond Aug 24 that has any national interest. We may get hyped up for these other games cuz we're Canes, but F! Maybe we get to the ACCCG, but that could just be ugly. My point again is our SOS could bite us in the ***.

How so? The only time our schedule would matter is if we are trying to make the case to get into the playoffs and the only way that is happening is if we beat Clemson in the ACCCG. I don't think that is going to happen, but if it did, a 13-0 Miami team is definitely going to make it in and an 12-1 Miami with our only loss being say opening weekend to UF would almost certainly make it in as well. The only way I can see the schedule hurting us if we lose 2 or more games and still manage to beat Clemson in the ACCCG which seems unlikely.

Conversely, we finish the season with a 10-3 or 11-2 record - even against an easy schedule - and it only helps with recruiting.

This team was really young last year, especially on offense.
A year of maturity will have a significant impact.

Who cares, after last year and most of the past 15 years, we should all be in the wait and see mode with our program and outside of bcc and those non power 5 teams we should not take anyone for granted at this point.

I honestly think that FSU game will be tough in Tally. However, I think we beat the dog out of Florida.
this is the worst FSU team in my lifetime ( 39 years old ) . FSU will have to fight to get 4 wins. We beat them by 30 . I have no idea if we can beat UF though. I think we would in november but who knows how the QBs and new coaches will respond in August.

UVA on Friday night is the trap game of the season. The Late Kick guy pointed it out also. UVA has a bye before the game and we will be a day short on rest. UVA doesn’t have the talent, but solid coaching (opposite of FS💩).

10-2 +/- 1 game is where my expectations are. UiF (first game of the year), @FS💩 (rivalry) and UVA (short rest vs prepared team) are the three games. @UNC seemed like a trap game also, until the UiF game got moved forward to give an extra week of prep/recovery before an early road ACC game.

11-1 with a UVA loss would be just fine with me.

we cant control the ACC schedule. we scheduled UF ooc. not sure anyone else is scheduling better on a yearly basis.
