Athlon QB rankings

It makes no sense for either side of the Rozier debate. He's ranked higher than 90 other QBs. But he's also behind Blackman at #30 & Josh Jackson at #19.

If there are only 18 QBs better than Jackson & 29 better than Blackman.. It sure doesn't look like this is the year of the QB either.

This article points out what everyone is saying Rosier is only ahead of Perry and Williams because he has more experience. That is the catch22 how do they get experience without playing. Next year they still won’t have experience, but just think how much better either of them will be with a full year of experience under their belt. This is why CMR is making a huge mistake wasting the season and not letting the other guys learn and get much better with experience this year. Perry or Williams are our future. Let’s move on take the next step to being a National Championship team again, We are The U!

As many have said on here before, I believe CMR will make the decision to start the year with Rosey. He will not RS any of the underclass QB's and he will put them in much more in the 2nd half of games for either mop up or game experience (if we are winning or losing) than last season. He must get them some game experience somehow during the season, maybe one of them even becomes the starter if they perform well. Rosey had really nice stats other than Comp. % which is part him part poor OL play. If he can just clean up the % issue and hit 5 more completion out of 100 passes that will put him near 60% which is acceptable. His Completion % issue is so thin and close to be acceptable (5 more comp. out of 100) that I believe it is not as big an issue as the poor performance of the OL. If the OL gives him a little more time, I think he hits 5-7 more comp. per 100 passes and then he is a 60-61% completion percentage passer who can run for 500 yards and 5 TD's also.
If CMR thinks Rosey is the man to get us wins, then I trust him over what I would like to see happen and I will root my **** off for Rosey. I also believe there will be a much shorter rope on him than last year and if the wheels start coming off, he will be sitting much faster and the future will begin. We have to get that OL functioning and we need it to happen quickly (maybe wishful thinking). Just my .02 cents.
GO CANES!!!

Pathetic to be ranked 39 when he has all those weapons.
Rosier finished the year with 3,120 yards with 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while completing 54 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 468 yards and five touchdowns.
If he completes 8 more passes per 100, he is a 62% passer with those other stats and probably ranks in the top 10. No?

This is accurate but it's easier said than done.
Over a full season stats show that you are who you are.
If we give up only 2 less 3rd down conversions per game we go from 75th in the country to 4th.

I do expect improvement from Rosier if he starts.
I don't think he's a 60% completion guy.

I agree, easier said than done, but not out of the realm of possibility. I guess my point is only the smallest of improvements (passing comp. or 3rd downs) can make a world of difference. Good point, it is amazing how 3-5 plays a game can turn stats completely upside down. Cheers!

We couldn’t get leads last year to get the backups in. How will this year be any different?

This is my worry as well. Right now there's no reason to think we'll be a better 3rd down team than last year which has a lot to do with why we didn't get big leads. How many TOs didn't turn into points because we couldn't move the ball? The other thing is that getting that many TOs again this season is unlikely.

I'm not trying to say we're fcked, but until proven otherwise, there's no reason to expect us to put up big leads on teams and let the backup QBs play.

LOL....5 of our 6 QBs that either won NCs ( Kosar, Walsh, Toretta, & Erickson), or played in NCs (Testaverde), were RED-SHIRTED.

Dorsey would've been red-shirted if Kelly didn't get hurt in 99', making it 6 outta 6.

Taking L's with a true frosh in hopes of future success is a crap shoot.

This Catch-22 is born of the misconception that experience--when the coaches talk about it--is measured in units like number of minutes played, or live snaps taken, but rather how well you've been able to process information and apply it to your game. After all, not all experience is good experience, but did you ***** up yesterday in practice and make the appropriate adjustments today? Experience is gained with every position meeting, film study, live snap, and as a backup, every call and signal you send in.

Malik's edge in experience isn't simply that he's played in games that others haven't, but also that he's practiced more than the other guys have, and therefore, he's been exposed to more lessons, and he's been able to apply those lessons to hone his craft. For this reason, I don't believe the experience gap is that wide, and I certainly believe one of the younger guys can narrow it without actually playing in a game.

We live in a different world players don’t stay 5 years, also all of those QB red shirted behind good QB Rosier is not a good QB Perry also redshirted last year.. Time to move forward

With what? Until you’ve seen one of these other options out perform Rosier in live action, you cannot with any credibility state that the direction we’d be moving by making a change is indeed, forward.
