At this point, if Golden stays......(Long)

I still think golden can get it done, psu wouldn't be considering him if it was perceived he had "under achieved" thus far. I can't get mad at golden because it's penn state, it's not like he's been interviewing for every available job. There's also a slight possibility he's interviewing to not burn any bridges, and decide to stay put.

Just kidding?

not sure what which of the statements you're referring too.. but not at all. Our only bad "terrible" loss this year was VT.. they aren't good at all, and all of those turnovers killed us.. FSU is fsu, this is a pretty **** good duke team, and Louisville only had 1 loss on the season...

And while a very slight chance, maybe golden doesn't want to do what schiano did to us a few years ago and essentially laugh in PSU's face about the job. Now, if offerred, do i think he takes it? Of course. Would i blame him for that? absolutely not.

Add me to this list. I'd like our AD to step up and draw a line in the sand. Blake should take back whatever cards he has given and make it clear that we are fine with Golden leaving and moreover that his best friend is no longer an employee of the University of Miami no matter what happens.

People were fed up with him after the way the final month of the season went, then the bowl game happened. People also got fed up with him over the way some recruiting battles wound up shaking out. If he comes back now, after all of this, he has to win the ACC next year or his life will be miserable.

With some of us, he stands no chance here no matter what he does. IT'S OVER FOR HIM HERE. The ship has sailed.

It will be a huge letdown. Before the bowl game I was hoping for a change at DC and maybe a position coach or two thinking that would do the trick. After the embarassment against Louisville it became clear to me that Al Golden is in over his head and that a change in leadership is needed.

I mention this because a week ago I never seriously thought Golden would consider leaving. Now after having observed the developments of the last 36 hours and in reading the reactions, input and overall tone of my fellow Canes on this board it is as obvious as the nose on my face that Golden needs to take the PSU job and leave.

It's been almost surreal to witness the complete 180 we the fans have done in terms of our confidence in the future under Golden's leadership. It's as though at the same time most of us finally realized what we probably knew deep down but were so adverse to admit. That behind the cool catchphrases, 8 pillars, and countless times he had us convinced that "he gets it", there was nothing there.

We all finally realized that he couldn't organize his way to being a good coach. We all finally figured out that his obsession to over organizing was his way of trying to compensate for the fact that he has despite his experience, absolutely no feel for the game of football. No ability to see and grasp the game like good/great coaches do.

And as is usually the case with people like this they tend to substitute feel for game with blind obedience to a dogmatic set of rules. This manifested itself in his rigid fixation with his bland outdated scheme, his constant referencing of "the process", and his valuing stability over performance and a culture of dogma over a culture of winning.

What is obvious to me now is that we are just starting to figure out what the players have known for some time now. That he is not the man to lead us back to where we want to be.

In my opinion we are past the point of no return. He has lost his team and it is obvious he has lost the support of the fanbase. This program is at a crucial and strange juncture. At this point Golden has the program on the right trajectory but he lacks the ability to to take it any further. It is imperative we move on to a coach who does possess that ability before the law of diminishing returns kicks in.

repped! Thinking most of this myself over the last 72 hours.

If he stays he must get rid of coach D. If he leaves we MUST go out and try for james franklin.

James Franklin has beaten a total of 3 winning BCS conference teams in two years. He's a gigantic fraud. It's amazing how an agent can put his name out there just by being mentioned for jobs people start thinking he's desirable. Every the only two coaches he apprenticed under as an OC both got fired! Wtf has the guy done? Yes he's in the SEC east. But the SEC east during his tenure has been abysmal. His OOC schedule was a laugh. He gets destroyed by every ranked team he plays. He's a hot shot exciting guy who hasn't ever proven he really knows football.
