We have a ton of threads on who may be DC whether based on twitter follows, previous coaching places, and all kinds of shenanigans. I like to look at a more practical approach, $$. I think it might be interesting to hear some of the more knowledgeable people on here chime in on who they think deserves the money

heres a list of assistant coach salaries in CFB for this past season, Keep in mind Miami is private and doesn't have to disclose salary info

Jeremy Pruitt DC at UGA #7 at 1.3 mil

Brian Schottenheimer OC at UGA #11 at $957,000

total spent on staff $4.8 mil. Now I know we don't have Georgia money(or maybe we do?) but thats' the fourth highest in all of major college football only behind the typicals (LSU, BAMA, Auburn).

Breaking down the ACC defensive coordinators

We're throwing a lot of names around as DC, The last two defensive coordinators for Richt have been Pruitt and Grantham. Grantham is getting 1.4 mil(god knows how) at Louisville and Pruitt was racking in 1.3 mil.

I think a fair assumption is that Richt has permission to spend a pretty penny on a DC.

My question is simple, what DC that could be a legit possibility of Miami is worth that kind of money?

Van Gorder or another big program guy? could they justify paying raymond? or NFL? not sure who else we'd spend a mil on if Miami is truly willing to drop the money on assistants like they seem to be.

I'm not sure how much d'onofrio made but I think if Richt is truly going all in with these hires (seems like he is with Brown and coach Kool) then I don't suspect he makes a first time DC hire. Kool was making 350k as a Dline coach which is not excactly chump change for a position coach at a mid level program and you would like to think he came on board probably with at least that salary or a little more and the understanding of who the DC would be.

Who are the more knowledgeable people on here that you want to hear from? I wanna here from them too.

I think a good route would be like what UNC did and hire a former hc too run the defense. Like Jim Leavitt would be a good option. But I don't know if the administration would overlook the baggage at the end of his USF tenure.

We can do better than Van Gorder. ND's secondary is weak under him. They have a solid front seven, but overall they haven't been great on D. If we do end up spending the big bucks then I don't think he's our best option. Not a bad option, but we can do better.

Foster makes about $900k at Virginia Tech. If Pruitt makes $1.3 M at Bama, we need to pay in between that range for an experienced DC if we're serious.

With Richt running the show on offense, well be able to spend some money on the DC. If we're serious about things now we should be paying the DC at least one million. The OC significantly less since Richt will be heavily involved. Bottom line is you get what you pay for and what we were paying for was pure ****.

Are we going after an NFL guy? Seems as though Richts DC choice is in a New Year's Day bowl game or in the NFL. If he has made his choice, which you would think he has with the DL coach already hired

Here's hoping Dan Quinn gets axed a question.
