My argument was never about chips. Nice that Clemson has won a couple, and FSU before, but the conference as a whole hasn’t been stellar, and really only those two teams have been relevant on the national level in my opinion.

Secondly, just because teams challenge Clemson doesn’t mean much. Teams circle Clemson on their calendar. What makes Clemson special is that they take their opponent’s best shot every single week, and 9 times out of 10 they win. That doesn’t mean the quality of ACC opponent is better. It’s similar to having a rivalry game every single week.

Anyways my point has been, and I will maintain that top to bottom, the big 10 conference is better than the ACC.

Sometimes we forget that our opponents ALWAYS takes us seriously

We've got to start taking each and every opponent just as seriously.

For years we've looked down our noses at our ACC Coastal opponents only to be surprised when we least expect it

Championship teams prepare and take every opponent seriously instead of thinking that all they have to do is show up

Maybe then we'll finally eliminate the annual "surprise" loss that has afflicted this program for decades

There is no such thing as certain victory.

These teams in the Coastal can compete with most of every other conference.

Our fanbase is very ignorant of this and has fully bought into the SEC hype machine for some weird reason.

Losing to a Virginia, VT, Duke, or UNC wouldn't be a surprise loss. Those are solid teams and we aren't an elite one.

This team seems to have the same mindset as many of the fans when it comes to many games, that they simply need to show up to win. Then when the other, less talented, team wants it more we're shocked. I think this is the disease Diaz refers to and im on board with seeing it eradicated.

This team ain't done **** and it ain't ****. Lol @ looking down on any single team in the conference when our chronic underperformance is the giant mega **** sized elephant in the room.

What is the SEC East then? Yeah they have UGA at the top, then UF is at our level. And the bottom 5 teams in the East are absolutely terrible this year. They'd all finish behind everyone but GT and maybe Pitt.

The Pac-12 South, Big Ten West, ACC Coastal, SEC East are all on the same level
 
I think this is our year to live up to our expectations: SEC teams aren't looking great after week 1, we can run the table in our division and we don't have to hope as much because we have the pieces to make it so.

C'mon Canes!!!! Make the country hate us again because we're ruining their lives by winning! 😁

Well there’s no right or wrong answer because we’re dealing with opinions but we shouldn’t apply the micro view of our fan base to the macro perspective that is college football as a whole. The NCAA game play overall will basically result in a Gaussian curve:

5-10 great/very good teams = A level
10-15 good/above average teams = B level
A lot of average teams = C level
10-15 below average = D level
5-10 poor/garbage teams = F level

Thus the ACC is just like any other conference which in essence, is a microcosm of the league;
Every conference has a few good teams at the top, mostly average in the middle a few garbage squads.
This is also why we need at least an 8 team playoff.

Not surprising.

Alabama has become so hyper dominant that it is killing the SEC as a whole. The Crimson Tide and Georgia are hoovering up the majority of the talent, and more importantly the inability to beat Alabama is causing continued turnover in coaching at other schools, which sets the programs back further. And that will include Georgia and Florida - if their new coaches go winless against Alabama for four years they’ll be out too.

You make a for a good debate but I'll be patient and wait to see how the season unfold before I crown you.
 
When we start holding up our end of the bargain the ACC will be considered the 1st or second best conference
