This is my guy when he was a puppy. My first dog. He's 3 now and it hurts to think he will likely go before I do.

Sorry for your loss brother. Had to put our little fellow down 9 weeks ago. Still have his bed, cremated remains in a box and letters from groomers and vets in his bed. With us 14 years 4 days. I daytrade stocks and he kept me company. Still stings. Wifes friend engraved a wooden picture frame.

My BFF did me the solid of dying in his sleep 2 years ago. So thankful I didn’t have to make the decision to put him down. Why did I read this thread ugh 😭

I was laying in bed yesterday morning despondent over the canes and our beloved Great Dane Baloo came over to me and laid his head on me in an attempt to make me feel better.
30 minutes later he collapsed and we rushed him to the ER, unfortunately he passed away last night shortly before midnight.

He was the best dog. He always knew how to cheer me up after a canes loss.

I'll miss you forever dude.

Edit: I'm blown away by the outpouring of support. It means alot.

So sorry. This is much worse than our team losing a football game.
I had to put my 17 year old dog down last May due to a variety of health issues and it still hurts and probably will the rest of my life because she was such a great dog. She grew up with my kids and was our 3rd child. But that pain is actually healthy becuase it means you loved your dog so much as to be in this much pain. The opposite is a life without that kind of love.
Not giving you any advice so soon but it helped me to get another dog. Nothing will change how I felt about my girl, but my new guy has given me something else to love and receive love from.

Probably the worst day of my life….8/8/18, putting my main man Cane down.

Only thing I can tell you is that, although right now it feels like you’ve got a hole in your chest that will never heal, I promise it does get better. Every day gets a little easier and easier. Hang in there. It will get better.
Worst choice I ever had to make was doing the same last May but it was the right choice. But the pain is almost unbearable.
