If Manny is going to succeed as a first time head coach at one of the most visible programs in the country, he is going to need qualified and experienced top-notch coordinators on both sides of the ball. He is going to have far more on his plate than he realizes. He can’t be baby sitting an unqualified pair of guys running the defense. We need HC quality coordinators running BOTH sides of the ball.
Something else that is being overlooked is the additional overhauls that are needed within the program in the medical department and in support staff both for game/statistical analysis and recruiting. We can’t be combatting other teams recruiting with a 500 person call center while we are doing it with one guy carrying a beeper.
This dude has his hands full. He needs support that he may not even realize exists.
Just one more reason why Blake needed to at least interview everyone he could possibly talk to. You learn a lot in an interview. BJ could have learned a LOT about where we need to get better and it goes way beyond just who sits behind the HC desk.
