Artie Burns Top 5 CB

Some of yall talk about about coaching that dont mean jack, we still get kids drafted so enough with the whole "yea coaching put him in this round blah blah blah"

Now to artie, he hasnt been consistent, he will make one great play then get burned next, the TD he gave up was with man coverage he got straight beat i was right there in the stands, the pick he had at the end was a good pass and he played it well, he was raw as **** coming out of high school, he has the talent to be a first rounder, first it was his ball skills that was the problem and it looks like he fixed now, the next thing is his consistency that he needs to work on
Lol you are on a roll today.

Well did we still have kids go in the first???? My point is the coaches dont matter, you think buffalos coaches are better than major coaches because mack went in the top 5? If the kid has NFL potential he will get drafted

I guess we can chalk this up as yet another instance of the new-era Miami fanbase lowering the bar for the program who once set a record for amount of 1st rounders in a single draft.

Why sell kids of 1st round prospects when you can sell them on getting horrible coaching but still being able to go in the 5th round?!

Did you read my posts???? Yea go back and read

He's gone. He might not be NFL ready but he has the measurables. How could he not leave? I'm hoping we can manage to keep one of corn or Artie. Otherwise we're in big trouble at that position next year.

Denzel, Dorsett, and Clive all benefitted from playing their senior seasons. We saw what happened to Streeter, Washington, etc., when they left early and weren't ready. These guys should all hang around unless that are locks for the 1st round like Flowers. Duke makes sense at the RB position.

Artie might be a first rounder with his tangibles, and with these good season hes having

We'll see what the draft advisory board has to say about that. Right now, I wouldn't bet on it. Maybe by seasons end.

Artie Burns is a top 5 corner doesnt mean that if he doesnt get drafted in the top 5 that isnt true.... NFL scouts have zero clue what NFL talent looks like, they only go off of media hype. The fact is having Artie as our #1 isnt a talent drop off from any other corner in college football.

Was this sarcasm? NFL scouts only listen to the Media?

I would say NFL owners listen to the Media. That is why NFL scouts get over ruled a lot in the first 2 rounds. In the 4-6 rounds they start asking the scouts can this guy play for us over this guy.

And remember that NFL scouts only are talking to the media off the record to throw off other teams. They are not in the business to tell you so and so is really good because then team might take him in the 3rd round when you were hoping to get him in the 5th.

They asked Mel Kiper if he ever feels used by anyone who calls him with info on s player. He says every one of the calls they are using him. It is the business.

No team is going to tell you where they have Burns slotted until the end of the draft. And even then the team that gets him sways says he was number 1 on our board even when they are picking 28th.

He's got some issues, namely the leggy frame and how it translates to change of direction at the NFL level. More and more teams are prioritizing that type of thing. Google the term SPARQ ratings if you want more related info.

Richard Sherman was drafted fairly low but he excelled in the short shuttle and other categories which project to NFL success. He would be drafted much higher today, since the correlation has become well known. There are still many teams that are stubborn and refuse to bow to the numbers. For example, Trae Waynes of Michigan State flunked the shuttle and change of direction metrics. He was downgraded by many teams but Minnesota still thought enough of him to take him high in round one.

I'm not sure how Burns will fare in those tests. It's no longer okay to run a straight line 40 and announce yourself as a top cornerback prospect.

No question he has benefited from stupid passes thrown straight toward him. Overall he has played above my expectation this season but I don't think he's anything close to some of the best corners I've seen in this program, dating to Burgess Owens when I was a kid.
