Artie Burns CTE Article from Pittsburgh Gazette

Not sure if anyone else thinks like me but I’d risk being paralyzed, getting CTE, and hit whoever you want me to for an average NFL contract... wouldn’t think twice about it. **** I️ got 4 concussions in my playing days and didn’t get paid a dime

funny part is..artie aint even that physical and never has been. Just saying it is/was stupid but you cant tell these millenials nothing.

This whole cte craze also is just that a craze...what if u says if u drink water chances for cte goes up??. Its just a bunch of hogwash...and hearing a non physical cb speak of it grinds me..considering the trench guys go head up every play while artie's out there twiddling his fingers half the time

I have friends who only played highschool football who say they have it. Who cares. I probably have it also from playing. This bull**** about know knowing the affects until a few years ago is bull****. We all played and we all knew it wasn't good to get our heads mashed together. We still played.

Aaannndddd he just fd himself for the second contract. What an absolute moron

Reminds me of a Baller episode where Reggie admitted to the Patriots GM that he wasn’t right in the head just as he was about to sign a contract.....

Humans arent meant to go to war. but we do.

Humans arent meant to drive at fast speeds in automoblies. but we do

Humans arent meant to eat such processed foods. But we do

The list can go on... if you want to play.. play if not do something else.

The game is the only way many of these young men have to get themselves out if poverty and for some there whole families. To say "go eff yourself and find something else to do if you don't want life-altering brain damage" is not right. We owe it to them to make the sport safer and you can do it without ruining the sport.

99% of deceased former NFL players tested had CTE. It’s a given. At least he’s cognizant of it and has made the choice to play. It’s his life.

That's a bit deceiving since those who were petitioned or selected to be tested had already been suspected of having CTE, and were mostly linebackers, safeties, and running backs who tend to encounter the most cranial collisions.

The number is likely high - very high - among NFL players, but the 99% figure is likely inaccurate.

Seems as though humans are quite stupid.

Wouldn't be surprised if they eventually find a cure for it. It's the result of hitting your head a lot, but apparently it's because some kind of protein forms in your brain that starts slowing killing brain cells. Don't see why they won't be able to eventually make something that stops that from happening.

That's very different than curing it. Curing implies you can fix it after getting it which will never happen because you can't repair damaged brain cells.

It's a "craze" that is gonna doom football as we know it. Sorta like boxing in the 1940s/50s to what boxing is now as a sport.

Think about it tho. If you're a GM would you dangle big $$$ to a dude who just copped to this. I have zero doubt it's true. I sure as **** wouldn't want that high beta asset on the books. Also how retarded do you have to be to say that before you get paid for real. He did just play himself.

Regardless if his brain is now a frittata he is one stupid mfer to admit that on the record to a journalist

Not to mention that if he actually believes that he should retire today.

I think everyone is misinterpeting this article. I take it to mean that he knows he has it just because he plays football, not because he is noticing signs already.

It's only a matter of time before we move past football. What parent in their right mind would allow their child to play football knowing what we now know?

Flat-Earthers need not respond.

People who need money.

If your life prospects at birth are enlistment or construction at best you play for the chance. Middle class and higher parents have effectively abandoned the game. Part of the reason for the decline in QB play

He, im sure I have CTE too.

I have a wrecked shoulder looking at second operation in Jan, need a new knee, just had the good one scoped and I can't remember a **** thing my wife says to me (hehehe) and I didn't get paid a **** thing for beating up my body. LMAO Going from 130lbs dumbbell presses one year ago to 0 breaks a mans heart, but we go on!

My point exactly. I hate this CTE bullshid. I knew in little league football was bad for me. I still played for over a decade.

Would play again and id **** sure play for an NFL check.

Im going to die anyway. Id rather go out with a 6 figures and insane in the membrane

No. It's not possible. Stop it. You sound foolish
