[h=2]Bleacher Reports Article on Brad Kaaya Path to the draft[/h]
The first day of the NFL draft came and gone. Many of the top prospects had draft parties with a house full of friends and families. Others like Brad Kaaya said, "I didn't even watch, however today I will. Day 2 is my time"

Who exactly is Kaaya, and how did he wind up at a school approximately 2,700 miles away from his home?

A 6'4", 215-pound gunslinger from West Hills, CA, Kaaya was rated the seventh-best pro-style quarterback and No. 141 overall prospect by the 247Sports composite rankings. Kaaya led Chaminade to a state championship in 2013, completing 62.2 percent of his attempts for 3,853 yards and 27 touchdowns to just six interceptions.

He was a finalist in the Elite 11 and appeared in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. After his recruitment built significant momentum as signing day approached, Kaaya stuck with Miami over UCLA, USC and Boise State.

His mother, Angela Means, played "Felicia" in the movie Friday, which starred Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, among others. Brad Kaaya said he learned a lot from his mother, "Even though my mother only had a small role in the movie we made a living off the residuals she received for years to come." The moral of the story is work harder not smarter and you can make a good living without being the star of the show. And Kaaya who scored a 34 on the Wonderlic, the highest among QBs in this year's draft, proves he is definitely one of the most intelligent players in the 2017 draft. Kaaya says on the score, "I always been able to process things faster then others". While his mind might be faster his feet are definitely not. Kaaya below average forty time of 5.28 eliminated any chance of being a top draft pick. However Kaaya said, "Being a 1st round pick was never the plan". He gave the example of Ryan Leaf or JeMarcus Russell who were drafted high but rushed out of the league. Then gave the example of Ken Dorsey who played in the league for 7 years but was a career backup, "Dorsey hardly played so you can't get hurt on the bench or wearing the green jersey in practice." Remember work smarter not harder.

Let's rewind 3 years ago. In a somewhat surprising move, Miami Hurricanes head coach Al Golden named true freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya the starter for the 2014 season-opener at Louisville.

Kaaya's ascent to the starting position was rather impressive considering he was not an early enrollee but rather a mid-May arrival. Beyond his physical attributes, Kaaya impressed fellow Hurricanes with his mental makeup, none more impressive than NFL linebacker Denzel Perryman.

Susan Miller Degnan of The Miami Herald writes Golden was satisfied with Kaaya's off-field work translating to fall camp:The biggest thing was we saw how much he was devoted to it, how many sacrifices he made, how well he learned and how it translated to the field. A guy can be good in the film room or be good out of the book and then it doesn't translate. But it has translated here. We've put him in very tough situations.

3 years later all the hard work is about to pay off. If Kaaya doesn't get drafted today he will certainly get drafted tomorrow. And he says that's okay with him. He said his biggest fan is Al Golden who he still talks to once a week gave him the same advice that he gave him when he sat in his living room during recruitment. When Bleack Report contacted Golden about Kaaya he said the advice he gave him was, "Just put your head down, listen to the coaches, work hard, and trust your training. I was never was a star player in fact I only scored 2 touchdown my entire college career however because of my work ethic I was still signed by the premier NFL franchise New England Patriots in 1992. I only played in the NFL for two years but I was able to parlay that in a financially successful coaching career. I firmly believe a heady player like Brad can be on a NFL roster for a lot of years and get an NFL pension. Then who knows. All I know is I would love for him to be throwing to my tight ends in Detriot in practice cause he a film warrior." We also reached out to current Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Mark Ritcht but he was unavailable for comment.

When I approached Kaaya about Golden's comments he simply said," that was he is my mentor cause he is always so positive." He added he reminded him of his mom cause they were both preaching working the system for a long term money. "You know life after football stuff"

Rememer work smarter not harder!

It can't really be possibly to have this loser attitude that both Kaaya and Golden have, can it? Kaaya is a Cane and I hope it does great in the league, but are you serious? Before you are even drafted you are saying that what you want is to have a long NFL career even if it is as a career backup. The goal is to get an NFL pension? Nah, I refuse to believe this is real and that his "mentor" is someone who feeds him this garbage.

He reminds me of the backup QB in blue mountain State if this article is true, but hey, if you wanna be a career backup and wanna protect your body and mind then that's your personal choice. But with that being said I'm glad if moved on from our program if that's his mentality.

Kaaya no a loser. He da gawd. You will appreciate his *** come dis fall if you don't already.

That said, I am really rooting for Kaaya to get drafted ahead of Dalvin Crook, er, Cook.
