Article on Mark Richt vs Coley Offenses

I noticed that the routes in Coley's offense didn't vary that much.

But what I noticed even moreso was that there would be a run up the middle for 1-3 yards every single 1st down. Which was followed by a pass just barely past the 1st down marker on the ensuing 2nd and 3rd down plays.

The difference we are going to see will be mind blowing.

Also, seems a bit harsh towards Kayaa. Not that he's perfect, but is his game that deficient?

I think the reference to Kaaya being "non creative" points to the fact he is absolutely no threat to run whatsoever and if he runs the 40 at the NFL combine it will most likely be the slowest ever run by a QB.

I like Kaaya but the fact is ,that as a freshman ,1/2 the OL beat him in the 40 sprint in spring drills.

Biggest difference is that Richt is a proven QB guru. He's groomed Heisman QBs, a 1st overall pick, and turned guys like Greene and Murray into the best QBs in the sec.

Coley is good at identifying QB prospects, but he's got no clue how to teach them the game. This is why Kaaya will be exponentially better this year. He did a great job despite Coley's incompetence and total lack of qualifications as a QB teacher.

Richt is going to take this guy and teach him how to play the position at a Heisman level. Watch how the footwork and quickness with the feet completely changes.

There were members of this board that harped on coleys terrible route trees...hope they feel vindicated

Richt is a QB Guru look what he did with DJ Shockley. Enough said. He's gonna take Kayaa to another level.

don't think thats the biggest difference.. the biggest difference will be that Richt will know when he has a low, moderate, or high talent disparity, and call plays accordingly. Coley would try to out scheme the Ovetown 135 lb pop warner team instead of piledriving them into the ground. The article says that Richt has a run first mentality, which is true when Richt knows he can tote the rock straight up the opponents asss without them being able to do a **** thing... Right has no specific mentality, he has a know what your up against mentality.. Coley showed up at Cincinnati playing powderpuff ball when we should've rushed 45 times for 300 yards

Dumb article, pre-snap reads don't mean $h!t.

Now you know why I had to come back.........

If UM gets just serviceable Oline play, Kaaya will have a monster year.

Offensive line play will be exponentially better. They've leaned up to a man so they're not going to get fatigued like they have in the past. That's led to mentally errors and stupid, drive killing penalties because they have been grossly out of shape. Position coaching has greatly improved as well.

Of course he had tunnel vision! He had 2 seconds to throw the ball! He stared at the ground quite a bit! I hope our OL gives him the protection he needs!
