Article from Ivins on ITU about defensive

Completely agree, and considering how bad NC State looked yesterday he may be looking for a team with a higher ceiling. Not to mention his roots here at Miami. A big hurdle though, and I mean a big one, is his contract at NC State. Heard it's one that's hard to walk away from.

If the decision makers are willing to pay $4 million to buy Manny out of his 17 days at Temple, I highly doubt money would be an issue if this is the guy Manny wants and there's mutual interest.

Ok...if it's for Patrick then I have no problem with Simpson being let go.
It has to be. You can’t tell me there’s going to be a better candidate that has legit interest not named Kevin Patrick so if it’s not him then why let go of Jess especially with all of his GA connects as well.

Yup. I think the only way Rumph is out is if Fran Brown wants to come with. Fran’s a helluva coach and is a better recruiter.

Hopefully he finds a way to replace Jess with Kevin Patrick.

Do you mean the DC from Temple? He could be The Second Coming and I don't want him. One Temple DC is too much already. I have no problem with Patrick.

Punting Simpson and keeping Rumph is a HUGE mistake. One of those guys carries his weight, the other is a ******* clown who couldn't even deliver kids he was once tasked with mentoring. Get Rumph the F out of here already. That firing should have happened a long time ago.
I can tell you take a very myopic approach to life. You claim Simpson carries his weight after being here for less than a year. Rumph has been here for three and has a proven track record for player development. Corn Elder, Malek Young, and Mike Jackson being three clear examples. We knew G. Willis could play, the question was if he could stay on the field to put that ability on display. According to you Simpson > Rumph though. Hmmmm, okay.

I like Simpson a lot he's a really good coach and he can recruit really well so im down but if he leaves for Kevin Patrick I'd be down even though Simp is my guy. Now Rumph look the hate for Rumph is old and tired because all he does is develop every cb he gets but he doesn't close on recruits like he should so getting a cb who can develop and close would be perfect

Fran Brown was Baylor’s DB coach and Temple’s former DB coach. Ever heard of Tavon Young? Fran Brown’s work there...then put Nate Harrison in the league a year after.

I can tell you to watch more football and have a little more of a big picture view on staff construction and maybe life in general.

Simpson is EASILY a better asset to the team as DL coach than Rumph has been as a DB coach. Rumph isn't very highly regarded in the Dade county coaching community which further complicates the issue since assistant jobs need to be filled with guys that can also recruit.

He should have been fired a long time ago.

For the record I'm not married to Simpson, I'd be more than happy upgrading him to Patrick.

Here is the problem. The history of the school is that they will spend money to get what they want but what they want does not appear to be what we want. We want to win. They are either the dumbest mothers on the face of the planet or don't really want to win like we do. We want it all. If they don't then they spent 4 million too get they guy who would deliver what they want -- win a little but not too much. You are right, money is not an issue, it never was.

I can't think of any scenario in which this would be justifiable.

Between the two, Jess is definitely the one you keep!

This makes you racist , at least that’s what I’ve read lol

Rumph's inability to recruit is a major problem, there's no denying that. I need to see more from Simpson before crowning him this great coach. #1, #93, & #96 development will be the determining factor for me. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Happy New Year though.

I'm not crowning anyone anything...like I said I'd gladly upgrade Simpson for Patrick.

But I'll say it again, for what WE need from a DB coach given our staff construction, Rumph should have ALREADY been fired.
