On how the defense is coming along: We working, going 1-0 every day.
On how getting older has made a difference for him compared to when he first arrived: I would say my IQ just like expanded with my game. I just been learning more, become a student of the game at Miami, going 1-0 every day, everything just becoming better at everything. Like, just advancing with my mindset, even with my physicality and everything.
On his physical growth as he’s gotten older: I don't track my progress. I just go hard every day. Every chance I get to wake up, I just give it my all and get better at everything I can do.
On his relationship with Marquise and how they push each other: With the D-line, we push each other every day. You can't have no off days with this D-line. Go relentless every day. We make sure to keep each other at a high standard. Not just me and Marquise Lightfoot. Like, me and Ahmad, me and Justin Scott, even the younger guys. We have younger guys like Ashari. Like, I push all my guys, they push me, and I feel like that's what makes us better.
On what he has learned from Ahmad Moten: Ahmad, my guy, he played D-tackle. I learned from all the older guys because, I came in very young, and he was one of the older guys that was here. Ahmad to tell me, like, how to keep my head on straight and how to just work hard and, like, help me with plays and things like that, I would say.
On what he’s seen from the younger players who joined the team this offseason: I would say our young guys are hard workers. We got some young guys that's willing to work, not too stuck up. We got guys that's willing to fall in with the program and hold themselves to a standard because once you get to Miami, it's a standard that you got to uphold no matter your age.
On working with Rueben Bain & Akheem Mesidor: Work ethic. They showed me that you put enough work in with anything, anything is possible. Like, just with weight room, football, technique, walkthroughs. Like, those guys did everything, got 100%. They didn't just go hard on the field. They went hard in the meeting rooms, the film room. Like, they just showed me a lot.
