Are we worried about Donaldson?

Boulware, Reed and Scaife are all being worked into the rotation. It's glaringly obvious the better lineup is with Scaife at RT. But with our zone blocking schemes, I've seen him and Boulware failing to pick up their man at times. I'm certain that as soon as coaches feel Scaife is ready, they'll kick Donaldson in, and as soon as Boulware and Reed are ready, Jones will become a rotational player.

Worried? Sure. Willing to call him a bust? ****, no. That being said, this staff better resolve this OL issue.

i wouldn't call donaldson a bust. i put him in the mccloud camp. over-hyped, thrown in before they were ready category. i come here and everyone is talking about donaldson the beast, the mauling rg, etc. then i rewatched last seasons games and i don't see it. at all. but all off season he gets this greentree hype, i watch the games and i don't see it. i just hope it doesn't take 8 games into the season for searles and richt to find the right combo like it did in 2016.

Donaldson wasn't that great at Guard either, you guys are delusional. Someone here posted his Pro Football Football focus grade from last year and it wasn't great.

Scaife needs meaningful reps at RT next week.

Do you think the coaches sense that and will work towards that in practice this week? The fact Perry got no meaningful snaps shoes that rosier is the guy going forward no matter what smh

Need to move Donaldson back to guard... and you will see our run game improve dramatically

It is Searels pass blocking technique for the tackles. It's been evident since his first year, IMO. The tackles absorb instead of attacking and they never knock a guy off balance.

Two men, that big, with decent length don't have to have the best feet in college. They should be able to knock you off your square with a good punch, even when you beat them. The problem is we don't punch and we wait for the Dlinemans move effectively taking them out of their strength and magnifying their weaknesses.

We will need an elusive and tall QB with Searels here. He doesn't coach technique for a short guy who cant step up in the pocket without losing his base.

He's a guard, put Scaife at RT and Donaldson back where he belongs.......................oh but wait that novel concept of having the best talent on the field doesn't translate with this staph.

I agree. Scaife seems to be athletic enough to play RT. And he got some dog in him.

You know....I'd like to see Scaife get his shot (if and when he gets it) at LEFT tackle first.

I know I know, "can't put a rookie at LT", "gotta protect the QB's blindside" and enter whatever other cliche you want here but the fact of the matter is all those things apply to a traditional QB. Rosier is far from a traditional QB. He really doesn't need stellar blindside protection because he runs so **** much and on top of that....it's not like St. Louis hasn't been susceptible to speed off the edge in his own right.

The reason I'd try the kid at left tackle first is because it gives us the POSSIBILITY of fixing three OL positions with the one move. St. Louis would get to go back to where he's played his best, and really belongs, which is RIGHT tackle. Meanwhile Donaldson gets to go back to where his skill set is the bet match......GUARD.

So in my scenario, you're only hoping 1 move pans out cause you feel good the other 2 will naturally work out. Give the kid a look at LT.

I feel the same on both accounts. Even baga puts it's best talent on the field regardless of class. Wonder if Pope wishing he were catching passes from Tagalova instead of standing on the sidelines knowing Rosier could never hit him if he did get in.

Yeah, but much better than Jones. And I gotta imagine that the drop-off from Donaldson to Scaife at RT is probably not that great.
