With a potentially long season ahead, are we on record-breaking watch for Malachi?

109 catches as a freshman
1,211 career receiving yards

Xavier Restrepo (record holder)
200 career receptions
2,844 career receiving yards

What Malachi would need this season:

Catches:
91 to tie the record
92 to break it

Yards:
1,633 to tie the record
1,634 to break it

I think it's a foregone conclusion barring injury that Mali breaks the records eventually....but does he break them this year. TBH....I think he has a chance to break the harder record and thats the yards. We have too many mouths to feed, but I think he has an outside chance at the yardage because he cant be bracketed anymore and he should have more long catches.

Another one to keep an eye on is Mark Fletcher. He needs 1207 to break the record. This seems harder because of all the other RBs coming back.

I think he gets less touches in 2026 because we have more weapons, he has help so he won’t have to be relied upon as much, but I can also see him having more explosive plays in 2026
This. He won’t get as many touches but when he does he’s gonna have room bevause there are actually other threats now and a qb who can throw a deep ball.

Way too much talent around him to break it. If he does, something is wrong OR Mario is finally running tempo. If we run tempo to get 80 offensive snaps a game and 40-50 defensive, we could put up insane stats and scores.

As for Toney, give me 1000 for the season and let him come back to break it as a junior.

This regular season he had 87 for 970, 109 for 1211 in total, this is with a qb that was limited with anything past 20 yards and wasn’t as accurate as mensah is in the intermediate field for yac.

X in the same role his last two years he had 85 for 1092 and 69 for 1127. 2nd year we added sam brown, and arroyo was fully healthy & horton got way more snaps. So his targets went down but yards per catch went up because we upgraded the qb

So with mensah i expect mali to maybe have less catches but have more explosive plays, X had 12.8 per catch with tvd and then 16.3 per catch with cam

Mali was only 11 yards per catch with beck, could possibly get a 3-5 yard per catch boost with mensah. So i expect a season like X senior year and then hopefully we get 3-4 more games to get to and win the natty. So he could end up with 1300 yards next year

And then break all the records his junior year.

Anybody know what his NFL prospects look like? He's an elite college player..does his game translate to the NFL as well where he'll be a 1st rounder?

I still can’t believe how good Mali is.

The start/stop ability while not losing a step is something I haven’t seen at this level since Shady McCoy. Catches everything. Blocks/handles everyone in front of him.

Glad we get to see 2 more years!

Think he matches or beats his 25 output for yards but not catches. The addition of some of the other weapons opens up the field for him and he gets up around 16 YPC but on about 75-85 catches. Think he gets more rushing yards though. The malicat didn’t really become a thing until midway through the year.

Id be happy if he didn't have that contagious sophomore slump our freshmen phenoms seem prone to the last decade or so.

Lets just start there.

Everyone else is going to feast imo.

He’s beyond elite but I don’t think he’s breaking records in 2026. I think he remains a top 5 WR in CFB but with that WR room and the RB room I think this team is going to be spreading the ball around a lot more in 2026.
