A guy named pimpleton shredded our defense. That’s embarrassing af lolDefense has allowed 18 points in the last 11 quarters.

Think about the footballs that were dropped with room to run with their receivers... yikesThey gained 21 first downs with their back-up quarterback who throws at his receivers feet. The guy was 1/11 for 1 yard passing against Wisconsin
ExactlyKnowing that all our DTs have been great this year at defending the run (Miller and Chigozie being the best AND can pass rush), how should Blake adjust knowing that it's the secondary that needs all the help?
If I'm going to leave guys on an island I rather it be our DTs and not our CBs... if that makes sense.
Yeah I mentioned on another thread that guys have to start playing like their rating ( 4 star 5star) for instance Jeff Thomas has to have teams ****ting in their pants when he touches the ball. Can’t drop catchable balls or go down off of shoe string tackles. As good has jarren is playing he’s gotta put defenses in a bind with his ability to run.Yeah, probably. I'm not expert type or X & O type but that seems more a coaching issue. For me it comes down to players who are just NOT letting that crap happen -- the Ed Reeds of the world. O is played a lot in the head down. D is played from the gut out(I know film, study and practice mean so much but "gut" has lot to do with that also). We have some good players and a lot of nice ones, but we are still missing the Play Maker, Kosar, Ed Reed, Bennie Blades type who just do not accept losing while still breathing. You need a couple of those guys to raise the rest up and backstop them. We were once blessed with many at the same time, now it would be nice for two or three.
Miller and chigozie have been the best based on what? Ford and bethel has played way more snaps and the run D has been good.Knowing that all our DTs have been great this year at defending the run (Miller and Chigozie being the best AND can pass rush), how should Blake adjust knowing that it's the secondary that needs all the help?
If I'm going to leave guys on an island so to speak I rather it be our DTs and not our CBs... if that makes sense.
I don't like to criticize players especialy by name but I agree that performance has to improve. I do think that we miss those special player who make everyone else a level better. Reed is for me, the classic example. Does anyone think in that horrible OSU game where our 6th title was stolen that Ed Reed would have gotten a pick six stolen from his hands by a frigging running back? **** no. Now the guy who did get stripped might have been the greatest athlete ever and a true monster on the field but at that moment with Ed, we score 7 not them -- game, set, match. Did Mike let anyone tackle him or stop him in that great comeback against those might noles in Tally that great day, **** no. But in that same horrible game against OSU, arguably the greatest WR Miami ever had dropped at least one crucial pass -- Mike would have caught it or died. We didn't need it but I am sure Kosar scores again against NE with the minute left on the clock if they made that 2 point conversion in our first title game.Yeah I mentioned on another thread that guys have to start playing like their rating ( 4 star 5star) for instance Jeff Thomas has to have teams ****ting in their pants when he touches the ball. You thought you had something with this one
Well I've certainly been lectured bout drops, wide open guys who didn't get the ball and how bad everyone on our defense is.
Didn't know that counted for points but apparently some people on here found it more important than teams actually getting into the endzone.
You conveniently left out the quarter where we gave up 17 points in Chapel Hill and failed to mention 8 of those quarters were against Bethune and Central Michigan (who actually racked up 250+ yards).
24th in Scoring Defense
6th in Rush Defense
51st in Pass Defense
15th in Total Defense
25th in Sacks
9th in TFL's
46th in INT's
8th in Fumble Recoveries
9th in 3rd down Defense
130th in 4th down Defense
Basically, we're stout against the run, very good on 3rd down & get TFL's, but need more INT's, Sacks & have to get stops on 4th downs. The issue is the Secondary & lack of sacks upfront.
We need to start Al Blades (don't know why they keep starting Ivey over Blades), play Frierson more & stick with Hall & Carter while implementing Bolden into the Safety rotation. Knowels needs to hit the bench for good & Ivey should be CB3 playing in Nickel & Dime packages. Plus we should be playing Keontra Smith & Te'Cory Couch more as well.
On the DLine, Rousseau, Ford, Garvin & Hill should be the top 4, move them all around the line & rotate Bethel & Miller in when we go with the heavy line on run plays.
And Sam Brooks need more snaps with the starters.
Not over anyone, but just more in the rotation, he's a good natural playmaker & whenever he's in the game he's around the ball.Playing Frierson more over who? Romeo? I hope that's not what you are saying.
Everything else I agree with. Hill and Rousseau need to be getting starters minutes. Enough of the "we have a 11 man rotation at DL" BS. Play teh best 6-7 and lets roll.
People dog Ford in other threads but that guy has been an anchor against the run. He never said he was the next Gerald Willis as far as rushing the passer. All he does is stuff the **** out of that middle. Which is all Bama DTs do for the most part and they get All American status every year. Ford is a stud and will be big time for us next year too.
I doubt he will be out for a long time but frierson was in a boot and still is after the central Michigan gamePlaying Frierson more over who? Romeo? I hope that's not what you are saying.
