Are We Going To Get a LB Transfer?

That just means we suck again, I’m sure none of us want that. Well I’d hope not
Nobody wants that.

The problem is that us older alum/fans desperately want to see the U truly give a **** again at the highest level...our definition of “suck” isn’t 6-7 losing to FIU and La Tech...that should not even be imaginable at UM.

Suck is having a team that can’t hold their attention from team to team, or won’t tackle in the biggest game of the year against a big opponent at home. That’s the next step for Manny if he ever wants to be taken seriously as a coach. Stop the bestest buddy routine and demand the best each and every week.

Lashlee play calling was bland to mew, King made everybody look good
Then how do you explain Perry in the bowl game? The kid would have thrown well over 300 yards if numbers 6 and 8 could catch. To say he was anything but very good would be an understatement. In some ways, Perry was closer to what Lashlee really wants to run. I think he wants more Shane Buechele and less Nick Marshall, but then again that is just my opinion. With a limited receiving corps and a mediocre interior line, the offense was at least competent.

He can’t.

I agree King made everybody look better, but I thought Lashlee did good job last year for his first year. Night and day difference from Enos. He had the tendency to stumble over his feet at times when he got the offense on a roll. There were several occasions where he schemed the TE, RB, or one of the WR wide open. Maybe he saw something in the defense. Either way, he designed a play that totally took advantage of the defense.

Couple areas I think he can improve is the designed runs to King and the inside run/outside run sets to the RB's. Lacking a lot of creativity in those areas.

Marshall took them to a NC....and practically had FSU beat...until Auburn put a 5'7 midget on FSUs tallest WR....

Lashlee yes needs to be less predictable. But I want say he did call some good plays that should’ve been big plays and even TDs but king struggled to connect on the deep balls last year hopefully he will connect on more to make us more explosive

Of course the team will take an elite player at LB if they want to come. I don’t think there’s any position they wouldn’t take an elite transfer outside of OT, Safety, RB, and QB.

They’ve gotta develop the guys we have at LB or cut the dead weight this year. Brooks, Cave, and Huff are all really good athletes. Huff and Cave especially. The lack of coaching issue has been beaten to death. This is an S&C department issue just as much as coaching IMO.
Serious questions like why did Huff lose10bs as a junior? He’s listed at 6’3 205. That’s a developed weight for a CB or FS. Let’s say a ceiling for Huff is a Telvin Smith type. He was skinny and 215 at his LIGHTEST. You can’t tackle guys and get off blocks at 200lbs unless you’re a badass mean **** like Rohan Marley. You can teach a **** monkey to play 4-3 OLB in Diaz’s scheme in a week. So I’m not buying he doesn’t know the playbook crap.
TAC is shorter and looks just as light as Huff. I’m not buying TAC is 225lbs as listed. Maybe 210 now soaking wet. He looked like a S out there last season. I doubt even 200.
Keontra Smith was moved to LB and lost 10lbs this offseason to be at 205lbs. Who moves from S to LB and loses weight? This makes zero sense.

Lots of these moves are puzzling. I get it if the kids got hurt, really sick, or whatever. This more or less seems to be a pattern of poor guidance and execution by S&C. It’s not just LB where we are seeing this stuff. For example, we had two frosh OTs lose 10lbs and are now 280lbs. You can’t play at 280lbs. We saw what happened to Zion at 285lbs. It wasn’t pretty.
When we lost Tommy Moffitt we lost something that we have never been able to get back. I have little theoretical or practical knowledge about S&C in terms of how it relates to college football. I don't know the techniques or philosophies by name nor do I know any of the theories floating around out there. For that I defer to the resident board experts on S&C. All I know is that we haven't had an S&C guy that has been able to make the impact that Moffitt made when he was here. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Factor in anew offense with an abbreviated spring. Yup, he did a good job.

Lashlee was good, QB was good, RB was good, receiver was trash, and OL was trash, especially guard.

And that’s how we ended up with the #30 offense.

I think they addressed WR with the freshmans and Rambo, although we don’t have much size I think we’ll be OK there....but guard still worries the **** out of me...they were hot garbage in the Spring Game

Moffitt was all that and more....
