Are We Going To Get a LB Transfer?

If there's a quality LB available (someone who plays with discipline, can shed blocks & tackle), we should take him. The success of this team will be dictated in large part by the play of the LBs. Everything else is pretty solid. We have some athletes at the LB position but they are relatively inexperienced. My greatest concern against Bama is that our LB will constantly get caught up in the wash (or be lost) and their physical RBs will just gash us repeatedly. Our more experienced LBs are fairly slow & often out of position to make a play. This remains a serious concern that really needs to be addressed further.

Not sure y ppl continue to blame Patke, when...wait for it....Manny has been the recruiter for LB since 2016! These LB recruiting problems didn’t start in 2019, this ninja Manny tricked off LB since the Genesis of his hire. Yet, he skates by w/ no reprisal & have a billion & one excuses made for him.

I think he got comfortable with the three freshmen and his short sightedness allowed him to get comfortable when they panned out. He then swung and miss each year after cause he was crippled by a bad offense who can’t win anything of meaning

This def happens. We were forced to start four freshman in college - our coach just didn't recruit O-linemen very seriously after that because the soph was an All-American and the 2nd season we blocked for two different 1,000 yard backs and two more our next two years.

It caught up with the program big time after we graduated. The HC left after that season.

Are you sure Brooks, Cave, Flagg and Huff aren’t going to be good players?

I agree w/ u.
 
We have some new defensive coaches and I have a feeling we will see players step up at the LB position. Coaching and schemes can sometimes make a player think too much and it impacts performance.

Don't want a LB for the sake of getting one. If you can't start and impact games immediately no thank you.

I would settle for an above average LB right now, "game changing" would be a bonus. Maybe they found something on the roster with KS moving and some of the youngers guys improved? I can only hope.....
