Are We Going To Get a LB Transfer?

I’ve felt from the get go that Feely is a speed guy. His workouts seem tailored towards speed. That works but we also need a guy that excels at putting some muscle and good weight on guys. Richts strength coach was decent as our team looked bigger when he was here. You need a scheme that does both, stressing speed for skill guys like wr’s and corners and muscle for linemen. Somewhere in between for lbers and te’sFeely OTE]
Feeley definitely stresses speed, explosiveness, and high usage of Olympic lifts all done in a fast paced fashion which closely mimics a game. Feeley has helped us prevent guys from gassing out in the 2nd halves which happened more often under Gus Felder/Richt. If lots of guys are struggling putting on weight I'd point to nutrition as being the likely culprit. Diaz needs to analyze that aspect of the program a bit deeper so guys can have all the tools necessary to physically develop. I remember when Manny was hired I REALLY wanted to hire Kurt Hester from Louisiana Tech as S/C coach, he really impressed me with his knowledge, planning, and attention to detail when it came to the weight room.

We all wanted the LA dude. He seemed like a perfect fit. I’m not shutting the door on Feeley yet. He gets a pass with Covid but there’s definitely some valid concerns.
A big reason the CMR teams got gassed is because the defense was always on the field. I wouldn’t correlate that to S&C as much as I would depth and a crap offensive scheme. Homer getting caught from behind his last year all the time did **** me off though lol.

You really ARE SinisterCane!

The HC hasn't given me anything to believe in:confused:

Weight gain can be a tricky thing. Especially with younger linemen. It’s not as easy as “player x was 265 in high school, just pack on another 35 pounds of weight and he’s ready to go”. Most players coming from high school are getting into a drastically different strength and conditioning program when they enter college. A guy who was a flabby 300 lbs will lose some of that weight early before packing on muscle. Especially if they’re just starting a new diet and aren’t used to eating a certain way. A lot of guys have to reshape their entire body.

Rumor is that the staff is looking for a LB that can stay for 2 years, not just a 1 year guy.
makes sense if you are going to lose a counter toward next year : NCAA has to do something, you can't manage a roster with the way things are right now : it should be 85 come your first game ( actually should increase that number), with all the kids bailing out on these teams during the season, and bowl games :

Implement the 4-0-7 defense and be done with it. I'm over these ****ed up LBs. Patke can't recruit worth a **** and we are holding out hope for a 2-year rental to offset trash HS LB recruiting from the staff. It can't be because we are worried about someone transferring; which LB would we give a **** if they transferred?
really unbelievable that Manny let the linebacking group get this bad. Good grief Golden recruited the position better then Manny, where would we be without Shaq, and Pinkney:

It will show itself in Game 1...and then Manny will give pattycake a raise. I mean, can we not find a better LB coach for the University of Miami?

Are you referring to the same guy that turned Finley into a balla after he was completely lost at Safety under Banda? What about Frierson or D. Smith? Our coaches seem to be willing to move D. Smith to WLB after solid coaching from Patke. Strikers may have been the best position on the roster last year, outside of DE which had NFL draft picks playing the position. Still mad about Feagles and Baxa? Well they still suck at their new destinations under new coaches. How exactly did Boregalas improve his FG percentage drastically after leaving FIU (look it up). Still mad at him about not being able to catch punts? Well Pope couldn't catch regular passes either. He was stuck with whoever they had on the roster and they tried 4 different guys at punt returner. How exactly did Borregalas and Hedley both finish in the top 2 of punters/kickers in the nation? If you want to be mad at somebody about LB recruiting why don't you point the finger at Diaz and Baker? IMO, Patke gets waaaaaaaaayy too much criticism.

I mean when you put it like that you do have a point.

I went ahead and pulled the stats back up for him. Boregalas was 21 of 29 (72.4%) at FIU in 2019, then 20 of 22 (90.9%) in 2020 at the U. Only an 18.5% improvement.

Amazing that the Strikers have been a strong position every year Patke has coached him yet he constantly gets thrown under the bus. Funny that Finley showed a night & day change when he was moved to Striker from safety, but yeah Patke sucks as a coach. I fully expect the LB's to play much better under Patke than they did under Baker, who was a fish out of water here.
