Are Our WR’s Severely Overrated?

All this hype from Pope, Wiggins, Hightower, Harley Thomas, etc. and they have continuously not lived up to standards. I’m not sure if Tate Martell getting snaps was an indictment of our WR’s being *** or Enos trying to get cute, but if it’s the former then oh buddy we hyped these guys up too much.

I’ll be the first one to say having an O-line that would give up multiple sacks to D-3 teams doesn’t help with the WR’s having time to create separation, but it also seemed like the only times the WR’s “broke free” was against zone coverage. We hardly beat their corners or linebackers 1v1. Now UNC will be severely worse than UF, so this will be the telling tale. I expect some sort of schematic change to get the WR’s the ball quicker, but if we can’t create separation against an absolutely atrocious defense in UNC, then the writing is on the wall.

yes and no. Our guys got open BUT they didnt get the ball. That being said, wiggins and harley were hyped up by pete, not anyone who knows how to evaluate talent. Pope is struggling with mental part of game. Hightower coming off injury. JT doesnt go full speed every play.

Of course they are. All our guys are mostly overrated by our fans, and have been for ages. Osborn transferred in and is our most dependable guy. That should tell you all you need to know.

Hartley beat his man for a touch down several times but we could not get him the ball

Martell playing was about keeping him happy . I refuse to believe he was the next best option at WR

But I don’t see how you can say are wide receivers are overrated because they didn’t torch a D that was feasting on two freshmen tackles as well as having an 2 very talented DBs in coverage (neither one of those mfs can tackle)

There was no time for them to get the ball . Only ppl who wasted opportunities were JT4 and Mallory . Brevin dropped a tough one but he still balled
 
We all remember how terrible UNC’s D is, and that didn’t change overnight. I’m reserving true judgement until that game, because if we can’t block their d line at least somewhat of the time, we’re f^cked this year. Now If we can, our WR’s better get separation.

On the money!
 
We overrate nearly every kid we have.

And we have overrecruited for potential vs ability for ages. Bandy and Jaquan and Dallas are not prototypes, but they compete. We always try to get the kid who fits the mold. We should ensure that at least help our spots go to kids who break molds with passion.

Lol now Pope is struggling mentally. I thought it was the playbook. Smh

we need to see more of the 1st drive , but I think that will come with the growth of the offense and Enos . But when he went away from the motions and quick plays , UF was able to start playing their bread and butter press man once they saw their DEs were getting in the backfield so quick
 
Florida's cornerbacks are the strength of that Gators team--- not surprised our WR couldn't find space....

Add to the fact that our OL is the weakest part of the Canes, allowing 10 sacks-- the worst possible combo for a good passing game....

Facts are facts.....no matter what we all want to believe otherwise....
 
They are only overrated by Miami fans.

They’re not rated at all anywhere else. Just a below average group of guys. Brevin Jordan and Deejay Dallas are our only consistent threats to catch the ball.
