AQM Suspended for the 2014 season

@PeterAriz: Coaches fought for AQM to play, but the school was having none of it. Minor incident leads to this. Good job, good effort, administration
But but the admin defenders keep saying this must have been something big. And you think the banner is going to hurt recruiting, how about a school that throws their players under the bus

You might want to get out now.

Cleared by Police but punished by UM:

Al-Quadin gone from UM this semester; Stanton update; More comments besmirching Luol Deng; Dolphins linebacker situation, notes

A Friday morning update:

### Defensive end Al Quadin Muhammad is no longer enrolled at UM and will not be allowed to play football this season, the school announced today. But he will be allowed to return next semester if he chooses.

UM hopes that he will return to UM next semester but it was not clear if Muhammad will choose to do that.

Muhammad is being punished for a confrontation with a roommate that left the roommate with a broken nose. The incident happened a while ago, and the former roommate has since graduated.

The UM football staff isn't happy with this decision, which was made above the athletic department.

According to a source, the ultimate decision in cases of this kind is vice president of student affairs, Patricia Whitely.

Muhammad told UM that he punched the roommate in self-defense, according to UM athletic department person. There were conflicting statements when witnesses were interviewed.

Al Golden held Muhammad out of UM's first two games.

Muhammad, a sophomore, was a four-star prospect coming out of Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, rated the nation's No. 3 weakside linebacker prospect and 49th best player overall. He had two sacks as a freshman.

He's the second four-star prospect UM has lost this week (with Muhammad, at least for a semester). Freshman safety Kiy Hester transferred to Rutgers because of a family medical issue.

oh ****, there's the explanation and i may rethink my stance on the "more to this" stuff. that woman is a thunderous ****.

I got in a big fight at UM when I was there and more then a nose was broken... we went in front of the honer consul and everyone involved got 2 week suspension.

the key here was nobody lied... everyone told how it went down.. there were many conflicting stories here and AQM used the self defense excuse.

in my opinion, they thought he was lying so they pushed it.

AP has learned that Miami DE Al-Quadin Muhammad has been suspended for the semester by the university, will not play football in 2014.

**** so a redshirt it is for him, which could be a blessing in disguise.

Go Canes

AQM is a 3 and out player. This just means we get one less year of him.

3 and out my ***

Whatever you say.

If Barry Jacksoff's facts are accurate, AQM should transfer to a school that will have his back.

Smart for Al for not playing him and burning a year of eligbility.

AQM should transfer now.. He no longer wants to be associated with 3rd and long =rush specialist!! what kind of **** is this.. Golden is fabricating new positions lol

kid was a 5 star elite recruit. Hate to lose him. Golden is like a dark cloud. wtf. I mean just doesnt feel like this program will be right until he is gone.
Coach L has none of these problems, I dont want to hear a different sport.

There's absolutely no way this incident is as small as people are making it to be.

This goes much, much deeper.

You're a ****ing idiot. Negged.

Please, tell me why the University would suspend a student for a simple fight when we have players that have been in trouble for similar things still on the roster.

Really? We've had players that have gotten into scuffles with other students and not get suspended or punished? Name them.

Alabama admin wouldn't have the nerve to do something like this to Saban.

******* ******** man.

Exactly. Given that other students, other football players, etc. have had fights where the suspension was much lighter, there had to be more to this.

Suspended a whole semester for a ****ing fight?

This wouldn't happen at a school that gave a **** about its football program.

Exactly who hands out these suspension? UM? If so, they are more worried about image than anything. Which is so fake. Forget what everyone thinks.

So the dude wasn't arrested, but is being suspended for the enitre season. That seems a bit harsh to me, would love to know if he had any other issues before that incident.
