Seems like a lot of people here do not like this guy but isn't this what we all wanted?

Guy is a Herman disciple of whom coached under Urban. He was also HC while Briles was OC at UH

Up-tempo, modern, spread. This is what we wanted right? So what's the deal? Bring in the right position coaches (Seider, plus ace recruiters) and I'm good with it

Sure, Fedora would have been the home run hire, but I don't believe he was ever coming here. The guy has options and wants to be a HC.


Remember when Richt first hired manny as D.C.? Wasn't a popular choice at all, but he brought EXACTLY what we wanted, a 4-3 aggressive scheme. Applewhite brings on offense what we wanted on defense after the Al & Dorito debacle

Give Jarren the keys and let him rip it. Let's go

Couple key factors here:

1) Manny is going to let him do whatever he wants on offense.
2) The hire is cheaper than Fedora would have been, leaving more for assistants (and we should have quite a bit, finally).
3) Experience at huge programs in Texas and Bama (can't say the same about Fedora, and no I don't consider Florida as massive as either)
4) Experience with Saban and a successful Meyer disciple.
5) YOUNG. The whole staff right now is young. Love that.

6) Dan Orlovsky seal of approval.
 
I'm a fan of the hire. Myer/Herman power spread with a ton of no huddle. Throw in a season working with Briles and an inroad to Texas recruiting. The thing I love about what he does and to an extent, what Art Briles did, is his offense doesn't necessarily require the QB to be an NFL passer to work. Flexibility is a key.
 
90% of the man's plays as OC were RB swing pass, bubble screen, and all verts. The 10% that it wasn't those receivers were running pretty basic routes and didn't get open. Count me as extremely skeptical.

Agree.

Young and hungry.
 
I think that's the perfect offense fir the QBs Richt recruited. Perry would probably snap himself off the team but Jarren should feast in that type of offense.

And after what happened at Houston he's even more hungry with athletes here that fits perfectly for his scheme
 
I'm all in with this hire and will refrain from MORE unnecessary negativity. Let's give him a year and see what happens

With a WR playing QB. He played to Ward's strengths and put points on the board. Isn't that his job? Isn't that what we've been asking for?

Is it a stretch to say that running a competent, bat out of **** tempo spread should, at the very least, put us in the position to consistently win the Coastal? I want more as much as anyone else, but.....kinda pointless to take aim at Clemson until we can consistently wipe up Duke and Virginia.
