Buddies here in Austin with a member of Herman's staff at UT and who worked with Major at Houston. He's also a UF grad so he has no ties to UM whatsoever. Here is what he said when I mentioned Applewhite may be in play at Miami:

- " Would be a really good fit, hard worker and very smart"
- Herman did not call plays when they were at Houston, he did
- Offense would look similar to what UT runs now

Awaiting to see who oc will be. Whoever it will be this is a step in the right direction. I don’t expect immediate miracles with our offensive productivity. We will still have an unproven qb, a questionable o line and receivers that have had trouble getting separation and catching passes. First game with the gator will be a difficult baptism under fire for the team.

I understand people not wanting Coley. Not wanting Applewhite is crazy if Fedora declines. He is the blueprint for a spread, high scoring offense. He’s young, hungry to get his rep back, wants a chance to prove people wrong and wants to be here. (Hopped on a plane on New Year’s Day to interview.) Sound familiar? Sounds like Diaz 3 years ago.

He also knows Briles scheme and playbook.

I don't like him as an OC. At all. But it is what it is if he comes. I see him and his family hating S. Florida and looking for the first job opening back to Texas.

He's a doof.

Posted this in another thread today

Let’s be clear he’s much better than richt and it’s not even close. It would for sure be a more than solid hire if that is indeed the case but we possibly could do a bit better.

With that being said I did love Houston’s offense in the 2015 season and 2016 season and they were really agressive. Applewhite absolutely called the plays and every time I watched houston those years their offense was always pretty fun and interesting to see how explosive they were. Remember in that time frame they beat FSU in the bowl game 38-24 when FSU was loaded on defense in 2015 and the next year beat a top 3 ranked Oklahoma or so in 2016 with Applewhite calling plays with Houston talent.

After researching this a bit more and how ballsy Herman had houston playing 2015 and 2016 particularly their offense I am finally starting to warm back up to the possibility of Applewhite as an oc actually

Let’s be real... Major is not my first pick but the improvement we’d see from a Richt offense to an Applewhite offense would make it seem like he’s a rocket scientist

I knew that undercover uf and fsu fans were here. Didn't realize the simms clan was here posting as well.

If he’s the fallback plan, I don’t mind. Especially over Coley. As long as we don’t play any cold weather games where any of our injured players may want to bundle up.

You say that in comparison to Fedora as if Fedora wouldn't be gone in two years and we all know it.

Manny is not a better coordinator than Applewhite. That's just accepted as fact in the coaching world. Just for perspective. Miami athletes make any coach look better.
