Applewhite at Texas 2013

Can’t say what it was. I can say Mack Brown turned Texas into such a train wreck they’re still trying to fix it. The school with the most resources in the nation was passed by just about every other school in Texas the last decade.

But nah, that was on Mack. It was his two coordinators that have since done well elsewhere

LOl you must be young...not a UT fan but Mack came in and turned that program around. Won more than the last 17 years of Miami HCs combined.

This is very easy actually. What offensive scheme does Applewhite run? Exactly

We KNOW that Herman is an Urban Meyer disciple and runs a slight variation of his offense. Urban is a mastermind and Herman tweaked his playbook and is elite at developing a dangerous option QB. Ohio State won the natty with a 3rd string QB with Herman being the OC, after Herman left, OSU QB play and offensive efficiency took a dip for 2 years until Urban hired Kevin Wilson. Houston's offense looked like a OSU with some tweaks when he got there, and his option QB magic worked again, and is now working at Texas. We KNOW that where ever Herman goes, he'll find or teach someone to be a very annoying option QB.

Same for Briles, everywhere he goes, the offense is humming, and we KNOW what offense he ran. He ran his father's offense. We saw that offense get placed at Houston succeed.

Applewhite? He's had an elite offensive coach on staff with him at every stop. Just don't know what to expect from his offense. His Alabama offense, while coaching a Nick Saban squad, put up 14 points against Louisiana Monroe. His Texas offense, while coaching under Mack Brown, put up 5 points against an 8 win Missouri squad. Is he a run-spread coach? Will he run the strength of his players offense? Can he at least recruit? Tons of question marks for this man.
Applewhite called all the plays when Herman was at Houston when his “option QB magic worked again”, as you put it . Weird you conveniently left that out tho

1. He didn't call all the plays, in fact, he consistently consulted Herman.
2. That was Tom Herman's offense. Just like Herman didn't call the plays for OSU. Did I "conveniently leave that out"?

"It's my fault," Herman said. "I told (offensive coordinator) Major (Applewhite) you remember your check for this play? I didn't do a great job communicating exactly what I was talking about. So Major thought he was giving me what I wanted."

After a 51-yard run by Duke Catalon to the SMU 4, UH ran three straight run plays. The first by Catalon netted two yards. The last two, including on third down, were up the middle for no gain.

Herman is literally quoted as saying Applewhite called all the plays . He goes on to say playcalling is low on his list of priorities

So when Briles is the OC he gets all the credit for the offense and didn’t consistently consult the HC but when Applewhite is the OC he only gets half the credit and was just a consultant . That right ?

I literally just watched the Houston vs FSU game where the announcers talked about how Major is the playcaller and Herman will give him suggestions sometimes.

What did Houston's offense do in 2017 without Herman and without Briles

Yes, 4 plays on a drive in a game 4 years ago certainly certainly is an indictment on Applewhite . Smooth transition from your lie about how he didn’t call plays btw

I did't say that he didn't call plays. I said he didn't call all of them, and that he consistently consulted Herman.

Better than Coley when he was actually our OC here, who you said you wanted over Applewhite . Explain that . Because if it’s for recruiting you’ll be very disappointed when you see how Coley does without bags. You really named Kevin Olsen lmao

Did he secure the player he wanted over everyone else or not?

Everybody failed at Texas. Offense. Defense. The whole program. You know what that usually points to? The head coach. That’s why he was fired and out of coaching for 5 years. He may have been the first championship coach that couldn’t get a job since Larry Coker

Didn’t Coker coach at UTEP for a while? Oooh a DESIRABLE job, gotcha.

That was Saban’s first year at Bama as we know great coaches typically struggle early on a down program until they can get the right kind of players to fit their system. It happened with Smart that first year at Georgia taking over for Rick.

My question is how many seasons did Major actually call plays? I know he was Herman’s play caller at Houston but Briles called the plays last year.

Again I prefer Matt Canada or David Yost but over Applewhite but we could do much worse. Let’s wait and see who the position coaches are going to be.

Son. If I ask you if I should have strawberry or chocolate ice cream, then I tell the cashier I want chocolate after you suggested it, did I call the ******* play? LMAO

Oh ok, I didn’t know you had more inside info than former players and Herman himself .

Also I like how you ignored an article that I posted where Herman apologized for Applewhites poor play calling choices.
