AP Poll #2!

They probably realized we were one drive away from beating the “greatest team ever assembled”.
I think Miami drove a stake through the heart of that narrative. Good team, Indiana, but not the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. 2001 Miami would have gone 30-0 had we played that many games.

Just throwing this out there. We were NOT unanimous #2 in the coaches poll. It looks like we were #3 (or possibly #4) on a few ballots.

I will admit that winning 3 playoff games en route to the NC game loss gives the finish a much different feel than if there had been a single bowl game loss like the old days. Our guys holding up the Cotton bowl and Fiesta bowl trophies after those wins was great to see. This season was undoubtedly an absolute success and one of the most memorable seasons we've had.

Disappointed but if you told me after SMU we’d be #2 I would not have believed you. Last 6-7 weeks has been a blast minus the last 50 seconds last night.

Side note didn’t see our little brother programs in there. Did I just miss fsu and UF? Couldn’t happen to a better group of rejects.
Last two years, Miami 23 wins. FSU and UF combined, 19.

Helluva season, over achieved in some sense, but #2 is not a consolation prize; it’s a reminder u fail short.

I’ll still take this over what we’ve experienced any day of the week, but let’s not pour champagne on ourselves for losing a winnable game. 10 ST points cost us #6

#2, that's something to be applauded, appreciated, and proud of.

How many had us finishing atop the heap before the season started?

How many had us finishing #2?

Unexpected finish to our season, be happy, I am!

Disclaimer: Sure, we wanted the top spot, it was there for the taking, but it didn't happen. **** of a season and resurgence the second half, heads high.

Looks like we got every single vote for it as well. Now, how did Ohio State drop below Oregon, and Alabama jump anyone?

I guess they went solely on who advanced, and who didn't. Still, Oregon sucks.

Interesting. They ranked every team Miami played the highest of teams that made it to that round but didn't advance. Ole Miss is the highest that made it to the semis, but not the final. OSU is the highest that made it to the quarters, but not the semis. Texas A&M is the highest that didn't make it out of round one. That tells you something right there.
We had a freaking gauntlet to get to the natty. Indiana had easy street. Tho they did play a big ten title game. So same amount of games. But man Oregon and bama were layups

Coming up short hurts and it’s going to be a long offseason looking back at all the little and big mistakes and what if’s against Indiana but the positives out weigh all of that.

This was a foundation building season. We will no longer have to hear about the November swoon or post season bowl failures. We have identity that is not gimmicky (turnover chain) or reliant on a transcendent player (Ward).
