I disagree about Samson. That kids a dog. I understand the desire to move him inside just for consistency and reps for long term slots by youngins. But that's just not picking. Let the kid who's been this loyal to us as a program when he could have easily left prove to scouts he can play either guard or tackle. He deserves that loyalty from us as a program.

It is obvious to anyone who has seen a game of football that:

A) SJ is not nor ever should have been a guard. He shouldn't have been getting literally any reps of it because 1) it takes away snaps of guys who could ACTUALLY be guards for us we would need in playoffs and 2) he should have been competing at center with rodriguez. Why is this the first game of his career he has ever played center? Idiotic decision making.

B) Cantwell should always have been left at an OT spot - especially for our first 4 game run! and the coaches should have just competed Samson vs McCoy against each other for RT. It is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to move him down to guard if he doesn't gain staffs confidence (and counting on McCoy sliding out and being mostly the same as he already has been) than pushing him inside then trying to push him back out).

C) like I said All off-season it was obvious Samson was our Best lineman and would be better at OT than McCoy. And better at OT than he even was at Guard. And because of that it now makes no ******* sense Cantwell isn't getting his reps at ******* RT!

.... Same is said for our LB unit. You're and Smith on field together is stupid decision making

Cantwell a freshman who has a ton of developing to do has no business starting at left tackle on this team. That is an insane take right there. So we’re not gonna have our best offensive lineman in Sampson, not protecting the blindside of our quarterback? Get real dude, get real! Now, Cantwell is a tackle and what they should’ve done is left him at right tackle so at least Darin can see the rush on that side but not left tackle man, come on.

What I can tell you is this, Samson is maybe the best left tackle in college football this year. So, yeah, he’s not getting moved on that offensive line. He is our left tackle protecting the blind side of our quarterback and that’s that. Anyone who says different, is a moron that probably never even played this game. This isn’t madden football guys. Smh

Incorrect. Samson's play has been by far the best on the line. He's the one playing as a veteran leader should & he's a career backup that's had limited action. Guess you struggled with the context here. If McCoy hasn't been an issue I wouldn't be saying anything at all about him. At his size alone tackle makes sense. Samson's whether we've had him at guard or at tackle he's played exactly how we need him too. Mccoy struggles at both. Lmao sound similar to you? One has proved he excels at both positions so he deserves the chance while the other has been mid at best.
 
Cantwell to RT and let a TE/RB help with chipping as he takes his lumps. It's also not from Mensah's blindside. SJ needs to be on the bench and McCoy can take his spot. Maybe SJ will be a good C, but he isn't it at Guard.
 
I understand everyone want to see Cantwell play...but if there is one thing that has been demonstrated by this staff it is that frosh will play when they are ready to play....if when the staff thinks it is go time, Cantwell will play
 
Cantwell played 16 snaps in garbage time against CMU at left tackle, and people here are standing on the table demanding that he start our next game vs Clemson in place of McCoy. Someone delete my account please.
 
I think it was a waste trying to move Cantwell to G in the fall when he played a ton of LT in spring.
He should have got more snaps at RT in the first four games instead of at G.

If he can’t beat out McCoy at RT, let him serve as the swing tackle for both positions and get reps at both spots. That would set him up great for next year and you have your plug and play guy at either spot if either goes down with injury.

Congdon should start at LG. It’s time to move SJ to backup cente/backup guard and compete with Rhys.

Merriweather isn’t a tackle, have him compete with Buchanan for the RG spot.

Almost like OL experts would have known and acted accordingly to replace him. Guess not. We'll be ready in December, unless not being ready in October or November will make December moot.

We’ll see.
 
Between this the Wiley thread and posters capping for officials while our best player gets robbed of opportunities to accelerate a heisman campaign all because “we’ve gotten a few more holding calls this year”, really great work everyone.

Wasn't at end of spring. Had he got all summer and 4 games of reps against warmup teams?

And what is our best unit overall? Had Cantwell gotten those I'd bet him in lineup results in our best overall unit.

What would have resulted in our best OLine unit come ACC Championship time?
