Anyone that's defended McCoy

Do teams really improve that much over the course of the year? I think this line is what it is. And it’ll be our undoing in actual games cause I don’t think Dawson can scheme around it

They banned this dude 😂😂😂

So today with backups we saw SJ at Center and Cantwell at OT.
Why did it take 4 games for us to see that?
Why wasn't that the case all summer?
Smfh

Too bad staff still isn't putting Cantwell at RT given thats where McCoy plays....

Like these decisions are becoming comical at this point to me. I guess we just accept SJ is our starter. SJ will be at minimum our rotational guard all season. I'm sure of it at this point.
Do SJ can snap after all, hmm

Congdon getting finally getting rotated in at guard early is whats funny

They were probably trying to accelerate guys for this year but that’s not the right way to develop them. I don’t think cantwell should start at tackle if he isn’t ready but I also don’t think he should have played over the guards they had in today just because he’s not ready for tackle

If the long term plan is to have him at tackle then maybe they should have just did the 2024 Rivers/Bell rotations with mccoy or samson until they are comfortable with him there but i think they’re set on Samson/Mccoy being our best tackles for this year

Samson
Congdon
Rodriguez
McCoy
Cantwell

Not sure why the coaching staff is fighting it.

At this point I want to see how bad other dudes are at snapping the ball.

That lineup with Buchanan at Center would seem to my untrained eye as the “best 5”

We agree on Cantwell. He needs lower body development (strength; conditioning; flexibility) to really contribute; tends to play high and reaches with his torso.

Cogdon is physically ready; whatever mistakes he makes will be addressed with quality reps. His development-arc can be rapidly accelerated if he started.
Did Bell have better lower body development when he first got here? I remember that being pretty bad for him.

To me the question is more of where would you rather have your weakness and which fringe guy has more growth potential.

McCoy outside and SJ/ Buc inside. Harder to have help on the inside besides inserting the RB. SJ is def a low ceiling type, so I don’t see much potential for improvement.

McCoy inside and Cantwell / Hawks outside. Those two have very high ceilings, but need improvements, Cantwell esp with pad level. Easier to put a TE to help, plus RB can always help too.
That's the issue is we didn't allow rotational consistentency to this point and now we're going closer and closer to when we NEED to be at peak performance. Rb is just as much of an issue due to injuries. None of them besides fletch can be counted on in pass pro. Wheatley proved he needs more burn. I get it was trash comp but his running style is conducive with what we need. Run hard run angry

Bc if his lack of communication, not his inability to block. Also it was when he was playing RT not RG.
It's not relevant why. All of that is part of what's needed from him. If you cant communicate when going against inferior comp how are you gonna count n. Him when dealing with dogs against him.

the combination of SJ, RR, and Buchanan is just bad. There’s probably more ways they can tweak the OL rotation to make it better, but Meriweather, Buchanan, and Congdon rotating at guard looked a lot better.

He supposed to be at G and Sisi made guys look great next to him as well. They should of had him and Pancake inside off rip now it will cost them a natty. The team is still top tier but got to recruit the trenches that much harder man, you cant get beat out on OL and DL
I disagree about Samson. That kids a dog. I understand the desire to move him inside just for consistency and reps for long term slots by youngins. But that's just not picking. Let the kid who's been this loyal to us as a program when he could have easily left prove to scouts he can play either guard or tackle. He deserves that loyalty from us as a program.
