Anyone see some karma heading fsu's way?

Oh yes now that Michael has hit, Andrew was stronger. I believe Andrew wasn't measured accurately period... that's why a Japanese engineer produced a wind speed study based on physical damage assessments... and it showed higher winds in South Dade than 165 mph. One of my jobs after Andrew was to assess the communications infrastructure in S. Dade. Structural damage was like an atom bomb exploded.
Wasn't tracked properly, at 1700hrs still predicting a county line hit.
Drove to my Moms house in Homestead.
By 10pm, get the news,, Andrew wobbled south..

Holy crap... did you see the tree with the lid in it.
Seriously, you most have some stories. I worked with people who needed a therapist to cope after the storm.

Yes I saw the report from the Japanese engineer when it went public but I can't find it online. In 2004 a reanalysis of Andrew which you speak about was published and authored by Dr. Landsea and NOAA/AOML Hurricane Research.
One of the most bizarre things I saw from Andrew in Homestead was a metal galvanized garbage can lid that was perfectly lodged into a coconut palm, half of it imbedded into the tree trunk.
1954 double hip roof, awning windows.
Classic south Florida for that era.
Most bizarre thing i saw,,glass shards imbedded in lathe masonry walls.
Glad i Rode it out in the closet with a bottle of sour mash..

No, went to some migrant farm houses.
Like little 12 ft. square pillboxes. They were trashed. If anything could have withstood a big storm. I would have thought they could..

Yes with good old tongue and grove roof boards. The ugly old flat poured concrete roofs did very well in Leisure City... the homes that were built for servicemen in the 50's are ******* bunkers.

It is believed that the migrant trailer park by Robert is Here that was totally obliterated had hundreds of fatalities that were not reported... who knows.

I lived on Miller and 95 Ave.... nothing compared to S. Dade experience.
I lived just north of Eureka road, less than a mile away from the coast. Ground Zero for the northern eye wall, winds over 165 mph. Its indescribable, what it was like. Incessant shreaking of the wind.. trying desperately to keep my house from exploding as it came apart slowly. Then the next morning, going outside, and on to the roof of my house, and not seeing ANY shingles on ANY houses, just bare plywood roofs. And strangest of all, the leaves were completely stripped from all the trees. There were birds flopping around on the ground with NO FEATHERS LEFT. Down my street, there was a two car garage with the door blown out, with both cars inside FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN. Just crazy stuff like that.... crazy.

Yes you were in the worst of it. Must have seemed surreal the aftermath. Definitely one of the strongest storms ever. I tell my wife that the news when covering some hurricanes is ridiculous... how they play up slight winds with dramatic corny BS.
