Worst case scenario is he comes in and raises the level of play from the back ups and one of them beats him out. It is about building depth and competition with quality players, if the other don't like they can beat him out.

I’m glad you’re not our next coach.

If Richt has not been able to recruit and develop a competent qb by year 4, he is not doing his job. A grad transfer qb is not about depth and competition. It means you have no competent qb on the roster.

Worst case that happens is he comes and Williams or Perry or both leave and no competition to be had. Not sure what people aren’t understanding about this. I don’t think it’s the comp I think it’s not trusting the staff with actually playing the right person example being Rosier.

great idea. there are already signs of problems in the locker room... Mork brings in transfers and the current QBs on the roster get kicked to the curb ... yeah that would help

Who would get kicked to the curb? The guy has 1 year to play. Nobody is leaving because Mark hurt their feelings by bringing in some competition.

And if they do, that's the kind of kid you think will lead the program where you want it to be?

I’m on record for not wanting kelly ... if the dude is transferring here expecting immediate pt what does that say to jarren/nkosi

It says beat his *** out! If you can play, show me and put this kid on the **** bench. Be a man and a leader and show me you're better.

Jesus, all you dudes sit around and jerk off to The U documentaries...how many times was it mentioned that the greatest competition those kids faced was on Greentree? The games were the easy part because the practices were so fierce. Now you're questioning what it will say to Jarren and Kosi if you bring in a kid to compete with them? You come to The U to compete. He's expecting immediate PT...**** right he is. As should Kosi and Jarren. Go take it.

I mean what’s it say about his character when he transferred out at the first notion he was losing his job

From post practice comments by CMR today:

Coach Mark Richt was asked Tuesday if he thinks his style of offense is still best to run in today’s college football game.
“I’m not thinking about any of that right now, I’ll answer that at at the appropriate time - let’s focus in this game,” Richt responded.
Richt also said he’s never promised a transfer he’ll start, perhaps indicating he wouldn’t guarantee transfer QB Kelly Bryant he can come in as the No. 1 guy from the get-go.
The Clemson graduate transfer is considering several programs, including UM.
“We promise an opportunity to compete and they look at the situation,” Richt said. “Anytime a graduate transfer comes into the program he’s always promised an opportunity to play, to win that job. We’ve never said, `Hey, you’re going to start.’ We’ve never done that and you can’t do that, it’s not fair to everybody.”

If he comes here, do you really think he's going to sit on the bench again? Besides, Richt's offense does not fit his skill set, and Richt won't make any adjustments. He'll try to shove that square peg in the round hole and say Bryant just can't execute.

How much better is Kelly going to be handing off the dive on downs one and two? Will defenses forget to cover the sideline pass on third? What happens if he gets injured? Walk-on?

there are important factors that go into making a winning football program that are just as important as how players
perform on the field.
the coach has to identify leaders and build the team around these players and make sure they are followed and respected.
the natural leader is the QB and Richt has failed miserably to establish a starting QB to build around.

Miami's problems go way beyond just performance on the field.

So if Kelly comes here Richt will have an older senior QB that spent most of his time as a backup and will be leaving at the end of the year. At the same time have two, what are supposed to be, very promising young QBs.

Gee, I wonder who he will play?

IF changes are coming, we need a stop gap. I’m okay with this move if Jon is also being replaced.

Disagree.

I’d rather be LSU or Michigan than so many of the other schools who sat on iffy QB(s) hoping for maturation/growth and watched as the entire team regressed (sound familiar?).

Nope. Get me a solid grad transfer and HELP THE PROSPECTIVE TRANSFERS PACK like Orgeron and Harbaugh did.

Also, I don’t think Bryant is the right guy.
I want the element of competing and I think if kelly transfers here it’s because he’s guaranteed the job becuase I’m using Clemson as a reference. I’m all for transfers but you gotta let them duke it out for the spot
