Brown said his primary focus this weekend will be trying to help the Canes lock down a commitment from 6-4, 185-pound 3-star receiver Jayden Gibson of Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange.


Gibson doesn’t do many interviews, but he’s got a budding friendship with Brown.


“Me and him mesh really good. He’s a cool kid. I respect him a lot, like outside of football, too, as a person,” said Brown, who met Gibson at a 7-on-7 tournament in Atlanta. “He’s really calm, keeps to himself. But I mean he has the Quan Lee mentality, that ‘mamba mentality’ to get in every day and go to work. Like, nobody’s gonna beat me, nobody’s gonna stop me because I’m going to outwork you. So he’s really good.”
