Sorta weird. Yes.

Going back into people’s Twitter posting history, to then humiliate them on a fan site, where he’s anonymous and pretty much everyone else is also, is pretty weird.

Considering the time and effort involved, and considering that it’s not productive, the only thing it gets you is maybe some anonymous “cred“ from anonymous porsters.

There was one poster whose tweets were so outrageous that they are now legendary, but him trying to do this with other posters was bizarre.

Exactly for all the reasons you specified. I honestly don't even think he was actually ***, or if he was he was VERY closeted. The schtick was so overboard it just didn't make sense, and this is an especially weird place for it.
