Anyone else sad that the Paul Johnson era at GT is over?

It’s not just because of their academic standard that they won’t recruit well. Look at the surrounding schools.

They Will never get a recruit that uga wants as well as many of these schools in close proximity that prioritize guys they are recruiting in metro Atlanta.
Bama 2.5-3 hours away
Tennessee 3:30 hours away
Clemson 2:00 hours away
FSU 5 hours away
Uga 45 minutes away
Auburn 1 hour away
South Carolina 3 hours away or so if that.

For reference uf is the closest power 5 school from Miami and that’s what 5 hours away?

Exactly. Also, Stanford recruits nationally as well as from the entire west coast. Outside of USC, there is no school that completely dominates recruiting out west.

Georgia Tech is screwed by comparison in terms of proximity. They're fighting the SEC schools ($$$) for a lot of recruits.

I appreciated the intricacies of the triple option. That being said, who wants to install basically a new D for one week a year??

Hated that they got away with cut blocking downfield alot too.

Also, if your upcoming opponent happened to play GT the week before, the game films from the prior week for your defense were completely useless.

Alot of practices were taken up preparing for that offense. We always had an advantage if we faced another triple option team or a team that liked to use option but not many of those exist anymore.
