Anyone else sad that the Paul Johnson era at GT is over?

My favorite memory of the Paul Johnson GT years was when one of our defensive players flipped their RB, feet towards the sky. I don't remember the year but it had to be before Marlins Park bc I remember the baseball diamond still on the field. Im glad we don't have to live like that anymore lmao

Prior to PJs arrival, the Jackets held a 9-4 advantage in the all time series vs our CANES.

PJ was 3-8 vs the CANES.

I will forever be thankful to PJ for allowing the CANES to even up the series at 12 wins a piece.

Good thing we got Willie at FSU now to pick up where PJ left off in handing us a guaranteed W every year.

Here's hoping Willie wins at least 8 games this year and earns an extension on his contract.

It would be karma for all of the ACLs on which he ordered a Code Red.

Yup, that's what I hated the most about them. They sought to control the clock at all costs..........sometimes I truly thought that they didn't really care if they scored or not on some of their possessions, as long as they kept the ball away from you.
 
Not gonna miss having to devote practice time to defending that offense anymore. Practice time is limited as it is. Having to waste time on a different scheme just for one specific opponent is counterproductive.
 
Our defense has been good overall but it’s never been good vs Paul Johnson and Georgia tech under Diaz don’t kid yourself...

Not like we were dominating tech’s triple option like Clemson has done in recent years vs them. We’ve struggled with them in 4 of the last 5 games pretty **** much. It will be MUCH EASIER to play them now

Yeah, none of those were really comfortable games. 2016, maybe, but in that game we got a couple timely turnovers to put it on ice.

The defense did a good job against them in 2017, the score was close because the offense struggled and turnovers. How can we forget the onsides kick they returned for a touchdown? If you hold a team that's averaging 350 yards per game rushing to 200, you're doing a good job.

Still would much rather play a regular offensive team than that bullsh*t
 
I understand why the service academies run that offense. You're limited in the types of players you can recruit so the flexbone triple option can even the playing field. Why you would want to handcuff yourself with that offense at an ACC school is a whole question in it's self. No offensive recruit who has any dreams of playing in the NFL wants to get stuck in that system. You can be competitive and you'll certainly surprise a lot of opponents but you're essentially saying "we're fine with being an 8 win team and have no aspirations to ever be any better than 10 or 11 wins." You're essentially handicapping your own team.

No, because no matter who coaches there, it should still be a win regardless. Plus we don't waste time and resources in preparing for a gimmick offense. And less injuries due to their BS blocking techniques. Good riddance.

Take into context who was throwing him the ball, and how often GT would last down field in that offense...

Antrel Rolle does not shut Calvin Johnson down if he was in a passing system with a good QB.

Love Rolle, but if Rolle is sticking Calvin w/ Stafford throwing the ball, I'm taking that matchup all day...
