The whole board got the alert. @Andrew was very pleased that his test worked and the Awards Committee was very pleased that his tinkering didn’t **** something else up on here.

Rest gently, good Sir. You’re in good hands with Andrew at the helm.

🙄
**** it meng!!!

@Andrew made me feel special as I was certain I was the only one who got the special test message. I honestly thought it was going to unlock that discount code to a certain nun **** site that my friend frequents for academic research purposes.

Disappointing. ☹️☹️☹️

You are not alone. I usually am his Guinea Pig.

Since you all want to know...

As I previously posted, Apple iOS now supports push notifications via web using a Progressive Web App (PWA) aka "Add to Home Screen". This means that any alert you receive on CIS can be pushed to your iPhone or iPad. Previously this was only supported on Android, Windows, or Apple OS devices.

When I announced this capability users requested the ability to have certain users posts pushed to their phone. Currently Xenforo does not support this but a 3rd party developer does so I installed an add-on that allows users to "watch" other users. This works the same way "watched" threads do. When a user makes a post, anyone watching is alerted via Xenforo or push notifications.

The next thing we wanted to do was implemented article notifications. This would be an alert sent to every user whenever an article is posted. Users would of course have the option to opt-out of alerts via preferences. Since our articles system was coded by me I had to code the solution on by QA server and then update the add-on on prod. After the deployment to prod I encountered a performance issue when alerting all users. I knew XF had the option to alert all users in the admin panel so I sent out a test alert to see the difference in how alerting works from the admin panel versus how it typically works in public templates. This led me to conclude that different functions are being used and one uses a queue and the other attempts instant. This weekend I plan on fixing the issue with article pushes and redeploying.

Ok so I'm not the only one who's having posts repeat..... I just deleted one and noticed it's happening with other posters...

For @Andrew , there is this thing going on (sometimes) where you post, then you get an error message, then you can't post for a minute, and then you post and get another error message.

Only to find out that you did that 2 or 3 times and it posted (correctly) every time, and there really was no error.

I'm not sure if this is connected to your other upgrades, but it's happened to me a few times already. Fortunately, I figured out the double-posting thing, and I now ignore the error message.

Happens to my porsting 60% of the time everytime.

Ya gotta love a site owner who trolls his own user base. Similar to a "****'s Last Resort" kinda vibe.

We just can't quit you @Andrew
