Anybody Hear Mark Packer Obliterate Miami Today?

Listen to **** stache talk about Miami on Joe Rose show monday and you will hear someone who understands Miami. Hiring mutants from up north is a recipe for failure. Players wins game. We are unprecedented terrible and still getting players. These are the type of coaches you dont hire. Complain

Got a call from a UM fan asking about who would be a good coach to hire if Golden was replaced.

Packer said he wasn't sure Golden would be fired. But also mentioned Golden was maxed out at Miami, and did the job he was hired to do ... Navigate the NCAA, and run a clean program.

Packer then went on to say he doubts Miami can ever get back to what the fans want. Says it's an unrealistic expectation, and that what happened before was the perfect storm. Now, everybody recruits South Florida.

He also took a dump on our stadium situation, calling it the worst college atmosphere for football. No energy, no mystique, no home field advantage

Hoke said Kaaya would be a draw to prospective coaches, and the talent base accessible for recruiting is the best. Can't get all the S. Florida recruits, but we have to get our share.

Was a bit depressing.

If you actually believe this you must not know much about Miami.

Hire a great coach, it's really that simple.

This guy understands. Media idiots like ************ like to take dramatic positions to get listeners stirred up. He knows nothing about UM. His knowledge is cursory. All he does is parrot what other buffoons say.

Make a great hire, and watch how quickly UM turns around.

The media had us dead and buried before Davis turned it around. Lee Corpso was leading the charge about how UM was dead and would be relegated to third or fourth in the state.

It doesn't need to be a "great" coach to win at Miami. A good or very good coach can win a lot here.

Erickson wasn't a "great" coach. He was probably in the very good group.

Problems with Packer's simple argument-
1. Just upgrading coaching seemed to work for Michigan and UF
2. Explain Texas or better yet Oregon struggling

Wait...Brady Hoke almost killed Meatchicken Football and they have him a talk show? About college football??? Holy ****

Anyone that uses the term 'unrealistic expectations' in their argument is a ******* ****** and invalidates the rest of their points. Several teams win conference championships every year, and one wins the NT every year. Us wanting to be in a spot to compete for those is not 'unrealistic'.

Dumb. People have always recruited South Florida. The difference is there are more good players now.

The stadium sucks, but it didn't stop Miami from putting nine guys in the pros last year. The talent will be there.

Hoke's comments are interesting. When we had the last coaching search, Jacory was coming off a horrible year. Before that, it was Kyle. The fact that we have Kaaya should be a great selling point to candidates.

And a kid like Jack Allison waiting in the wings.

If Fraulden was hired to navigate the NCAA, that means that he probably knew about the Shapiro mess before he was hired.

Though he continues to lie about it, he unequivocally did know about it.

August 2010: Shapiro told the Miami Herald he was writing a book
December 2010: AG was hired

Completely agree.

I think that's how he got the job ... Sold Hocutt on the fact that he dealt with sanctions at Temple, and "built the program". That he could deal with the sanctions at Miami, and get the program back on track.

Now, he may be honest in griping about "the cloud". I don't think they thought it would take the NCAA as long as it did to complete the investigation and announce the penalties. But he wasn't blindsided, and he wasn't lied to by anybody at UM, IMO.

It's not just Kayaa - there's talent throughout this roster.

the stadium is a tired excuse - they've been using that excuse for 20+ years.

I never understood Golden claiming he didn't know about the Shaprio rumors when he took the job. If he took really took a job and didn't know about it, when as a casual fan in Philadelphia, I had even heard something was coming, he's an even bigger tool than I thought.

The funniest part of this is Packer got a UM fan caller last week that was talking about the media claiming Miami fans had "unrealistic expectations" and his response was that Miami fans should never temper their expectations and that they should be clamoring for the program to return to the elite status it once held.

Dude apparently likes to talk out of both sides of his mouth.

Of course our stadium situation is terrible - it's not a secret. Someday maybe we can fix it. It's not happening anytime soon, sadly - but it DOESN'T MATTER.

If we hire the right guy to bring in all of the talent that this area is teeming with, and get them to perform on the field, next year's FSU game would be a sellout and the place would be electric.

The key is bringing in the right (Butch Davis) guy who knows how to deal with this unique environment. It's quite a simple solution. I wish all of the problems with my company could be rectified with one stroke - **** maybe they can be.

His entire persona is based on making excuses for his poor performance. He most likely used the Shapiro story as a bargaining chip for the job, as stated above, and as the catalyst for his excuse when he did not perform as required by his 300 page manifesto.

Completely transparent to all.

Never thought of Kaaya being a wagering tool for coaches :U5PyXda: It could also be for one year although I think Kaaya will play his senior season.

Sounds similar to all the things said about the Canes in 1997. UCF was gonna pass us by. The 80's-90's were the perfect storm, never happen again...and then a coach named Butch came to town. BBB.

Go Canes!

The reason for any loss we have now and will finish with this season belongs to this bargain bin coaching staff. Not the stadium or teams taking all the talent away.
