Wondering if any names have been brought up seriously for the new D coordinator? I feel our offense will be fine but we really need to get the D back to being stout. Outside of Mario I think this will be the most important hire.

Do you have any opinion on Belk?

I haven’t watched enough of him to formulate an honest opinion. He’s regarded as an up and comer, and had a statistically good defense last year (mostly)… with that being said, I would prefer Schumann if we’re going with up and comers.

I do not have the context of how much either candidate has control of the scheme or the play calling, but here is a comparison of some relevant rankings per the NCAA website for their team defense, take into consideration there is a difference in competition and roster of course:

Total Defense
Georgia 2, Houston 6

Yards Per Play:
Georgia 1, Houston 6

3rd down %:
Georgia 19, Houston 1

First downs allowed:
Georgia 4, Houston 8

Passing yards allowed:
Georgia 3, Houston 16

Red Zone Defense:
Georgia 1, Houston 11

Rushing Defense:
Georgia 3, Houston 13

Scoring Defense:
Georgia 1, Houston 27

Passing efficiency defense:
Georgia 2, Houston 21

Team Sacks:
Georgia 15, Houston 5

Team Tackles for Loss:
Georgia 43, Houston 25

Turnovers Gained:
Georgia 60, Houston 14

Liked for the effort it took to flawlessly bold and underline.

Difference is one team is littered with 5 stars the other isn't and another thing is one of these call their own plays while the other we don't quite know how involved they are

Definitely a factor. I was interested in that so I looked at how each school recruits within their conference to get a better idea of how they matched up relative to their schedule. Over the last five classes Georgia averaged finishing 1.8 in the SEC. Houston meanwhile has been averaging 5.2 in the AAC. Which in my mind is a positive for Houston in this comparison.
