He was basically hurt the entire time. Ladson didn’t live up to his full potential at Clemson. But Rambo and him are in a similar position. It didn’t really work out at their previous schools, but they both come to Miami for a fresh start. The only reason Rambo had success was because of TVD. He mad him appear better than he was. Rambo isn’t as big of a los as people think. These young guys have more potential

You are out of your f* mind. Rambo is the UM leader in single season receptions and receiving yards but he's not that "big of a loss?!" He won a ton of 50/50 and 60/40 balls. Did TVD help? Sure. Did Rambo help TVD? Absolutely.

So, where will the offense turn for explosive plays in 2021 without Etienne, Powell, and Amari Rodgers?

The offense could look to junior receiver Frank Ladson for passing plays.

Ladson finished an injury-plagued 2020 season with 18 receptions for 281 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged 15.6 yards per reception, slightly above his career average of 15.1

At 6-foot-3, 207 pounds with 4.44 speed, last season, Ladson was regarded as the fastest receiver on the roster.

"Frank is definitely the fastest receiver on the team," said Rodgers, who had reported unofficial pro day 40-yard dash times of 4.44 and 4.52, in a preseason interview. "When we were racing this summer, he beat me by a couple of yards, which I’m going to get him back. I told him that."

But there are questions surrounding Rodgers' statement's accuracy because Joseph Ngata (6'3, 220), also in a preseason interview, claimed he is faster than Ladson.

"Oh no, he’s not," a smiling Rodgers stated as he rebutted Ngata's claim. "He’s not. He’s third, though. He’s behind me. I’ll give him that one."


Frank Ladson 10.96 as a Junior and has some speed. Have no idea how fast Rambo was. Rambo always fought for the ball grabbing a lot of contested passes.
 
I’ve only seen him in person this past spring game. I know you cant draw a conclusion off of one setting but a spade is a spade.

In that scrimmage. He left some meat on the bone for a desired X receiver.

DJ Ivey shut him down all day… All day.

I wanna see how fall turns out like the rest of us. He is a unknown for this team imo.

I wanna see him succeed. I think he can be Leonard Hankerson type for this offense if he utilizes his frame. Imo

And btw, I'm not dogging him. I really don't have an opinion on his game. I haven't seen much of him. My only point is that based on what we know, the more likely outcome is he's a rotational contributor and not the #1 alpha some in this thread hope simply because he was a 4 or 5 star several years ago.

Dude, give it a rest. He's been injured.

You guys just phucking kill me. Every year you do the same **** putting our guys into little boxes of who they are and what they can become.

How about we just let our guys practice and play. Then we can see what they are made of.

I think the younger guys are better. Rambo was a system wr and got the most targets because he was really our only experienced we. He was the 4th/5th string wr at Oklahoma.
 
More interested on how the true sophs look. That is the only group that can make the WRs special.
 
I could see him finally breaking through like Streeter did his last year here.. Would help a lot.

I agree. And that's why I think we have to have realistic expectations on his contribution this year. He has 27 catches in 3 years. I hope that the production was injury-related and that he lives up to the hope of his HS ranking but I'm cautious on penciling him in for more than a rotational piece at this point.

With his length and speed, I'd love to see him become our deep threat.

This take is pretty bad. Rambo had a remarkable year. To label him a "system" WR is silly. As if Lashlee has a bunch of system WRs to his name. Think about the dudes that he surpassed stat-wise. Andre Johnson. Santana. Reggie. Irvin. Yatil Greene. LT. Ahmmon. Hurns. Hankerson. Streeter. We've had some great WRs here and some guys that had really good seasons and he surpassed them all. I think we are going to miss him big time.

The only offensive player I have any expectation on is TVD. Everyone else will play itself out.

I'm just waiting for game #3 @ AtM as a measuring stick of what we have and who we are as a team. Even after that game, there will be plenty of room for improvement with the entire ACC schedule in front of us.
 
Smith, George and Brinson. 2 of those three need step up and become consistent contributors in the offense. They all have the ability, and I expect this staff to get that out of them.
