Has not been talked about at all but probably having the best camp out of anyone on the team

Causing turnovers in 7 vs 7 and 11 v 11 and has not given up the black shirt at all

I expect him to grow a lot this year

Huge piece to the defense this year. Gunter, Burns and Crawford have to lock it down on the corners. They have the abilities.

There was hype about him at this time last year and he didn't do much. I like him but I don't expect Deion Sanders.

No offense, but how do you know he is having the best camp out of anyone on the team? Just curious

Not saying he is, but it sounds like he is or he is very near the top.....he has been picking QBs off left and right and hasn't lost his black shirt once....pretty sure only 3 or 4 guys have done that along with Kirb and Denzel

Even Tracy has lost his

He's inferring we know Tracy is a lockdown, the other three need to become lockdown. Do not forget Elder, he is right there.

There hasnt been much hype because there is no urgency or intrigue about the secondary. This camp is revolving around two main things, 1 the QB competition and 2 the play of the DL most importantly the NT/DT position. The secondary is solid from a talent aspect, and the anticipation of the season and what it will bring just doesnt stem from there.

Lets hope 3 of them become the second coming of Rumph, Buchanon and Fitzgerald.

Funny you said that.
To me, Howard looks and plays exactly like Rumph.
To anybody who doesn't think Howard is a lockdown corner, go back and look at last years tape and find me 10 passes completed against Howard all year.
You might be lucky to find half that many.

Howard's the real deal, and if Crawford has a black jersey ahead of Tracy, than that can only be a good thing.
Now that we have athletic safeties, our corners won't have to play 10 yards off the ball for fear of getting beat with no over the top help.

Love that he is showing out. as a former 2 star prospect i like to see these guys emerge. he comes from a great school in tampa out of Plant. so you know he was coached well there now he is applying his physical tools.

Crazy what a year can do for confidence at certain positions. Not that the cast at CB was much different last year, but a third year Tracy, Artie with experience, and what appear to be developing talents in Elder and Crawford to go with Gunter and I'm about as happy as can be with Corner. Best part is besides Gunter (and Tracy if he shaves a couple tenths off his 40) it will be the same crew again in '15. And with athletic, competitive safeties like buddha said, this back part of the D is going to be live.

Funny what happens when guys actually get the normal amount of time to develop.
Seems like, too often, if guys aren't playing like 4 time NFL all pros as true freshmen, they get labeled JAG's or worse.

Remember Brandon Harris? Looked like the worst corner in football history as a freshman but looked **** good as a junior.
Cortez Kennedy looked like Darius Smith for a couple years then turned into Jerome Brown his last year.
Leonard Hankerson was Featherstone until his final year where he balled out. Same with Streeter.

This year is the first year, in Golden's tenure, that we have his players across all the classes from freshmen to seniors.
It's only the 2nd week of camp, but the Team looks like the goods.

I would say next year will be Golden's first year with 'his' players across the board. That first year he didn't have much of, or much time to work with.

Having said all that, I still don't think he utilizes our talent to the best of their ability. I'm like a scorned ex-gf after that whole Penn State fiasco.

If we get good NT play and let the Dline get up field instead of holding the olinemen, everyone in the secondary will improve greatly. Some helmets on QBs equals picks a little later in the game. Nothing like the fear of MORE PAIN to hurry a throw. Crash the pocket and let Chad hunt.

I been talking Crawford up for the longest.... but ill keep my mouth shut and let his play do the talking
