InsideTheU learned that Louisiana-Monroe transfer defensive lineman Anthony Campbell will check out the Hurricanes this week, he tells InsideTheU. That visit will start on Thursday, according to Campbell. Listed at 6-foot-7, 283-pounder on Pro Football Focus, Campbell played just over 200 snaps as a junior last fall with 71 of those coming lined up as a defensive tackle. That’s the spot that Miami needs to fill. In his opportunities, the Bartow, Florida product was credited with a 74.4 grade against the run and a 69.4 pass rushing grade, per PFF. Campbell also generated 16 pressures and 3.5 tackles for loss last fall. He has two years of eligibility left. Prior to the 2021 season, Campbell’s first with the Warhawks, he spent two seasons at Independence (KS) Community College. He’s also a native of Jamaica and moved to the United States at the age of 14
anyone know how his PFF grades compare to Jackson's?

Just in case it benefits anyone, out is “outside” the T. Think of a 7 or 9 technique alignment. You’d normally try and run the arc or get into a run lane and set edge from that alignment.

OVT means “Over Tackle” and is lined up as a 5-technique. That means head up on the tackle. That is generally a 3-4 setup, or when you have an edge walked up to the LOS outside your shoulder. This alignment asks you to control the tackle and push the pocket in on the QB. Generally, you’re wanting to keep contain on QB and prevent a tackle from hooking you inside on run.

BGP is “B Gap” and means 3-technique, though it could also be a 4i which is shaded inside of tackle.

AGP is “A Gap” is lined up on center. So either a 1 or 0 technique alignment. This is your NT.

He had zero snaps as a NT, so he isn’t that guy. You could also try and make him into that, but most likely they view him as a 5-technique DE who can use his length when they go 3-4.

Good player to try and get because we really don’t have a utility lineman like this who has the length to play that 5-technique consistently. I do think Chantz Williams can play the 5, but this guy is perfectly suited to give you 300 snaps spread across.

Sure, why not? His leverage and pad level is likely an issue inside but it’s better than nothing and we are some desperate fvcks right now. I am not getting my hopes up that he is anything close to a sure thing either though.
Can fix the leverage by taking 2-3 inches off that 6'7 frame and sharing with Gore. All of a sudden we added 6'2 Gore, 6'3 Deen and 6'4 Campbell. We byke baby.

Kid grew up in Bartow, which used to be very country (just south of Lakeland), but has been growing a lot over the past 20 years.

Within about an hour of Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota, plus a little bit farther to get to Fort Myers.

Between that and coming from Jamaica, I'd say we have a decent shot.
